:censored: YES!!! Glad I saw this news about petrov. Renault really did give him a RIGHT SH*T CAR last year. Both drivers got on the podium and then the car just fell by the wayside the rest of the season. I think dumping him was a straight :censored: move to be honest. I wanna see what petrov can do with a decent car, so I'm glad he's still in f1 at this point. Hopefully he moves back up the field again to a better team in the future.

At first I thought Petrov was gonna be just a lame drive with a huge wallet, but boy, was I wrong. He showed that he has a lot of talent. He's fun to watch. I'm glad he's in Caterham now--Trulli got as boring as watching paint dry.

Oh man. Sad news for me, Trulli was a driver I supported since his Prost days. Had potential but turned out to be another Alesi, 1 win and then nothing. Never really did anything special with Caterham though so I guess it had to happen.

Now there is no Italian driver on the grid.

Not that the Italians will mind too much. It's Ferrari they all care about, I suppose!

I think I'm supportive of this move. (Never noticed Trulli much anyway). But I thought Silly Season was over..

The silliness never ends!

Well pleased petrov is back! And pleased caterham have got rid of Trulli (no disrespect, he had his moments, particularly in quali) but he was going nowhere and I trhink Caterham could be on the move...Hope so!!

Jarno was a clear winner that day, won that race easy from what i remember.

Didn't let team-mate Alonso trouble him, and held off a charging Jenson Button towards the end. Kept his head throughout all the safety car periods. Amazing Grand Prix, one of the finest there.

Pole lap was pretty awesome too. To win at Monaco in the fastest ever F1 cars is no mean feat!

My read on it is that most Italian's will be pretty disappointed. Italian drivers get great support from their countrymen, irrespective of which team they drive for. Trulli was loved in Italy. He was a true gentleman and a man of the people. Anyone who has seen/met him either in pitlane or out and about would know that. I have a friend who met him two years in a row at restaurants at Indy. The next year Jarno saw my friend and went up to him and greeted him.

I guess the Italian's will take a closer interest in Daniel Ricciardo's progress this year, so, that's another reason for me to wish Dan well in 2012.

That's very nice of Jarno, I'm pleased to hear he has time for his fans, rather than letting the celebrity status go to his head. I bet a few other F1 drivers wouldn't have done that.

Indeed!! yes, petrov had some real big slips in his first season...especially japan 2010, but just imagine how AMAZING it would have been if he hadn't clipped hulkenberg!! He rocketed off that starting line when those lights went out!! He's a true racer that goes for gaps and defends hard. He's trolled a few world champions in his two years so far in f1 :twisted::twisted:

Just thought this might be of interest:

Jarno Trulli claims he was offered a drive at Ferrari during his career but couldn't accept due to a commitment with Toyota.

Following his replacement by Vitaly Petrov at Caterham last week, Trulli is without a drive in 2012 as every seat on the grid is taken. After Ferrari's Stefano Domenicali bemoaned the lack of Italian drivers in Formula One, Trulli revealed that he was offered a seat with the team by the then-team principal Jean Todt but was not willing to break his contract with Toyota at the time.

"Nobody knows this, but at this point I think I can publicly thank Jean Todt for having been one of the few top team managers to consider me during my career. No one knows this, but Todt offered me a seat at Ferrari," Trulli told Autosprint. "I won't tell you when exactly: I was racing for Toyota and I was doing very well. But I had signed a rather long contract with the Japanese, and in my career I've always honoured my commitments. In 15 years of F1 I've never needed lawyers."

Reflecting on his Formula One career to date, Trulli added that he was grateful for Todt's help throughout his early years.

"I thank Todt not only for having offered me a drive at Ferrari, a chance that unfortunately I couldn't accept, but also for every time I asked for advice and received fine indications with a friendly approach. He has always been very honest with me. I've always kept this thing for me, but since today it's thanking time, I've felt like doing that. Regardless how things went, for a moment I felt I was a Ferrari driver."
