I don't mind birds but I like these creatures a lot more:

Used to have a hamsterlarium (a few cages connected by networks) when I was in secondary, and these guys are a load of fun just to watch!

I had tadpoles until 1 by 1 they died...and 1 survived to look like your friend there, which was when I decided to throw him out as it didn't look quite so much like a 'pet' anymore. :P

Quick list of animals I've had in my childhood - grasshoppers, fish, lobsters, tadpoles, hare, cats, dogs, hamsters, guinea pigs, snails (!!!), these at the top of my head.

Parents were quite accommodating since I am an only child, though they never allowed birds....winged creatures stuck in cages didn't feel right for them.

Fear of feathers???

BIRDS

I am interested in them especially their evolution, but you won't see me holding one.

I love birds. And if they get trapped in my greenhouse (and sometimes even in the house in Wales) I pick them up and take them out, and I hang on to them for a while because I really like them. But I do understand you because I have an irrational fear of spiders and go ape s*** if one is near me...worse if one gets on me!!

There's the added benefit that birds do eat spiders.

Spiders eat other bugs though. I'd be different if the spider actually posed a risk but even the ones here that can bite wont do much harm so I leave em alone.
