I watched the 2010 Bahrain GP. I know, I know. But I guess that's a good place to start if it's the most boring race of the year according to the general consensus. That meant my experience could only get better!!

By the way, those pics are at the last chicane at Imola, the downforce settings on the cars give it away.....

Singapore looks like an awesome venue to be at too....

Good point. Especially the Williams pic.

Yeah I knew it! Ahh, I miss Imola... the cars dancing through the trees and hills, in the hazy sun of an San Marino springtime... :cloud9:

The trees and the hillsides and the Alpine backdrop is what made the A1 / Red Bull Ring so special for me. I would love that circuit to return above all others that have since been dropped. :cloud9:

Never wanted to go to the Grand Prix in Adrlaide before you guys nicked it Pat? :P

Yes, I would have loved to, but was by and large a bit young, and my folks aren't really into cars.

The sound of them bouncing off the walls would have been amazing, especially that Ferrari V12........

Anyway, Melbourne is where it belongs! The city does embrace it, it's just not as "cosy" as Adelaide used to be.

One of the games in the playstation (1) bundle I bought was F1 97, started playing that then got into following it. It's great to get to know the tracks from playing them in the games too.

I still play F1 EA Challenge 99-2004 on the PC at times! Somehow didn't like the version by Codemasters don't know why.

I much preferred the A1 with the original horseshoe, it's a much lesser track IMO without it.

I admit to be very biased, but I just love Imola, although it did get too dangerous. The work that was needed there wasn't the track per say, it was the surrounds of the track. The section from the Aqua Minerali through to the pits was just brilliant IMO and the rest of the track wasn't far behind.

Hmm Ive been to Melbourne GP about 8 times, it just lacks something Adelaide had. I mean how long did it take the organisers there to do what they did at Adelaide with putting on an event by having bands as well?
I think because the Adelaide race was actually in the city once you left the track and went into the city pubs shops etc it still felt like you were in the GP. While Melbourne once you get on the crammed trams back into the city its like business as usual. Even the Clipsal 500 has a better atmosphere than the Melbourne GP.

But as usual Lil old Adelaide doesn't have the clout of the Eastern convict states :P

Well, they've done a fair bit of work on the Imola circuit recently haven't they? Fit for F1 again, so I've heard. Any chances of it re-appearing? I doubt it, given the fact that the European section of the calendar keeps shrinking at the moment. :irked:

F1 is a business and has to go to where the money is unfortunately.

Yes, the Clipsal 500 is an awesome event! I was working on cars there in 1999 & 2000. Great atmosphere, and I agree with the observations about the city feeling like your'e still trackside.

As for Imola, I want to see it back. The original layout was glorious, but obviously dangerous. All the money is in the emerging markets now ie: Asia. In 10 years we'll be going to Africa, that's the next money pit for F1......

There is no money anywhere these days :hehe:

Money is not lost nor gained, it can only be transferred.....and Asia is on a boom right now. Growth in nearly all sectors, so I could take a guess where it is.

My first interest in formula 1 when I was a primary school kid and watching the Schumacher v Hakkinen battles in the late 90s. At the time i was a Schumacher and Ferrari fan, And today i think to myself why. If that same battle was happening today I would be supporting Hakkinen and McLaren. But Michael Schumacher is the reason why I started watching F1 so I thank him for that even though i not a fan of him anymore
