Comon the people who are saying Schumi is past it. Look at him in Canada. For the first part of the race Schumi and Rosberg were driving round together. When an opportunity arises who took it..???? Do you seriously not think he will do the same again if a good car comes... he has the opportunity?

Any whoever said he can't beat Alonso... He had two quality seasons racing him? and he only lost because 1 his engine blew up so he never finsihed and lost the championship, 2. he got a puncture from who??? Alonso's team mate.... He can compete with the youngsters no problem.

But can he beat Rosberg these days? Overall in the championship? That's the more pressing issue.

He's just been getting warmed up and doing 2 years worth of testing for Brawn to build him a car while Rosberg's been racing.

.....maybe.

Schumacher is always going to have his doubters but the records speak for themselves. The guy has nothing left to prove and can go out there and enjoy himself with very little pressure. So what if he doesn't win? He's still one of the all time greats of F1.

No one is questioning his record or his success, it may never be equaled in the sport. Today however, the odds being given by the betting world for Schumacher over Rosberg?

Nico Rosberg 4/7
Michael Schumacher 5/4

People want to see the guy on a podium because of the nostalgia... in Canada last year the crowd was going crazy when he was flirting with a podium. It would be good for Mercedes, it would be good for the sport, but what's being discussed it not nostalgia but whether or not he can beat his team mate, and right now the bookies are saying he can't.

...No one's doubting his success and accomplishments before he retired....people are doubting his CURRENT ability which is what the discussion is about.

sorry, friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears :director: the championship would be more interesting with no Red Bull among the winners - for a change 8-)

That's a tall order given the state of the sport the last couple of years. I'd be surprised the the WCC changed at all in the top 3, maybe a changes from 4th place down.
