it they are that good why isn't everyone one else using them? I am sure that they have all tried a version of them on their own cars

It's has more to do with the whole package I think than a single component. I think McLaren produced a better chassis in '07 than Ferrari did but the little thing's have a tendency to bringout a superior overall package in certain condition's and track's.

Just my guess but we may see more of them in the future.

You do know they serve a very specific purpose right?

Is it possibly to cool the brakes more than the FIA's regulation brake ducts will allow? Or just to spoil the looks and stop thieves from leaving the car on bricks when no-ones about?

To be honest, my only gripe about them is the fact that they have a naff looking sticker of a wheel on them. If they were left black, or in bare carbon fibre they'd be much more aesthetically pleasing.

Oh man why I gotta be all that!:wink: Let me go OT for a second just to continue the fun ok?
There was a joke I heard many many year's ago and it went alittle something like this:

1st camper ask another one "Hey if we went camping and you woke up the next morning and you b-hole hurt, would you tell anyone"?

2nd camper say's "Heck no"!

1st camper then replie's "So you wanna go camping this weekend"?:oops:

Now I'm definitely keeping away....

Squeel piggy, squeel

It could be their interpretation of that but if I remember correctly it has more to do with extracting the brakepad dust build up. I think there is another thread discussing this subject but I'm lazy and dont feel like searching :lol: .

I remember reading about how they worked a while back, but likewise I'm too lazy to search. Also, there's a name for them and really can't remember what it is, so I didn't know what to search for

I just wish someone would ban Ferrari's fugly wheel things. They look awful with fake wheels painted on. The ruin the look on an otherwise gorgeous car.

I agree that lets down the Ferrari, and all the fins and flaps and barge boards, cooling chimneys etc just glued onto the car. I hope these get banned in 2009's aero regs as part of decreasing the emphasis on aerodynamic grip.

That just goes to show what an idiot Mosley is. He's coming up with all these radical and, frankly, comical ideas about bringing down speeds and costs in Formula One, and increasing overtaking. The solution is glaringly obvious to all, but the FIA. Bring back slicks; increase the width of tyres; make the tyres slightly harder so there are less marbles, meaning drivers can go off the racing line; remove chimneys, funnels, satellite dishes and other parts from the cars to clean up the trailing air; and make the cars wider. There you go: easy, cheap and sensible ways to increase overtaking and reduce wind tunnel usage.

Its A Really Good Looking Car

I agree it really is a great looking car. I also especially like those team helmets they wear. If only they were dot approved I could use it for autocross.
