Lewis very positive about the car. He says not to read too much into the times (he finnished 4th) all positive so far.

Heres another link with a videp of lewis and Seb talking about the testing and how the cars felt

Really? From what I read of it, he seemed neutral about it. I didn't like the part where he said 'degradation will be worse than last year'.....so what, we have around 4-5 laps in Japan before punctures start taking place? lol

Where was that code Spanky wanted to put in the Forum?

I have no idea... but i won't even watch much testing because it makes no sense. I will just start at Race 1 :)

Anyone care to place a bet as to how long before Macca fan paranoia hits this forum?

Can one of the mods add this bit of code to our front page to save lots and lots of posts....

*/ Begin Function Winter-Testing-Panic-set-in
IF my team/driver is slower than other team/driver
THEN other team/driver has light fuel
OR is doing glory-run
AND go to endless reams of comparisons and charts extracting meaningless minutia of data that makes things look rosy for me but ends up being completely wrong anyway
ENDIF

IF my team/driver = not doing as many laps as others
THEN we have completed our work schedule
AND we are analyzing all the data we have successfully collected

Karma ;)

It tells you the Red Bull was sandbagging to hide its little trick.
It tells you Michael was grandstanding to boost himself
It tells you the force India drivers were very close to each other and were thereabouts
And it tells you McLaren were in the s***.
Thats not bad  I guess that was a retrospective analysis :D

.....I guess that was a retrospective analysis :D

Exactly. There is no point in reading into any of it.....

....but like everyone else Im sure I will do if it starts to make my driver / team of choice look good....!

Looks like Williams with Senna did a race simulation. And Ferrari a qualifying simulation.

Ferrari still doing short runs, then changing a few things then going back out again. It's painstakingly logical at least, but possibly raises the problems they had last year with calibrating the wind tunnel with on track performance.

Redbull seem to be having reliability problems today.

I wish Adrian Newey could revisit his old talent in building 'tight' cars which bake the engine until it blows up every 10 laps it runs. :crying:

They've only done 26 laps. Most likely light fuel runs. McLarens done 70 today 7tenths off. I'm happy with that

HRT failed its crash test.

HRT have had to postpone the launch of their 2012 car after it narrowly failed two of the FIA’s mandatory crash tests. Although it passed 14 other tests successfully and its chassis was approved, the Spanish team are now set to wait until March’s final pre-season test to debut the F112.

Oh dear... there's never much good news coming from that team.... :(

So, Senna's best lap today on a 20.1 was part of a 70 lap grand prix distance simulation. Last season the race fastest laps were 3-6 seconds off the pole (ie, outright fastest possible time) depending on the track and a couple of other factors. From this i think we could therefore say that car was capable of at least getting well into the 18's and that is probably quite a conservative estimate, unless the EBD ban has really destroyed one lap pace to the point that they've lost 2 seconds a lap (and i doubt the loss is as great as that, more likely between 1-1.5s). Alonso did an 18.8 quali run today, and Vergne a 19.5 on what i believe was one too. On the face of it, it would seem that Williams are much improved this week compared to last season. However as i don't know when during the day these laptimes were set, and without seeing the full laptime charts for the day, i'd take that with a pinch of salt for now i think.
