At least the nose isn't as ferociously ugly as, say, the Ferrari. Like Force India, they seemed to have found a nicer way of implementing the platypus nose into the design.

If McLaren aren't taking advantage of the highest allowable nose height then they must know something we don't or have something up their sleeve. OTOH perhaps their nose might rise mid season.

So th enose can only be so high and then at some mark the fuselage can(or must?) be another, higher hight? How do you determine where that mark is?

I hope that soon they will word the regs in such a way as to make it impossible to have a nose that looks like that. Of course, they never outlawed Alain Prost's honker.

The nose only went down on concorde the the pilot could see to land.If it was going quick it was straight :)

I'm starting to wonder if McLaren have missed a trick though. All other teams seem to be going for it/.

lets see what RB do first before we worry too much....

Hmmm. It's starting to play on my mind too...

We'll have to wait and see.

You see, in mentioning that error Andrew, my golden reputation around here has been a tad tarnished.

DD has eyes like a hawk...

Nothing wrong in admitting your mistakes though being a McLaren fan your reputation is already tarnished. :hehe:

What RB does... is what's going to be fast hehehe

But the step nose looks like crap, though nothing a few checkered flags wont fix ;)

It's not only that, the cars with the high nose have it so they can have mostly empty space below it (some vertical fins hanging down) but the mclaren has the snowplough thing taking up that space, maybe that works for them and allows the lower COG that the other teams sacrifice for the higher nose.

I was hearing that the nose bump will give a significant amount of front end downforce allowing for less front wing angle to be run. If this is correct then the nose bump maybe isn't such a bad thing.

The nose bump itself won't give much downforce really, it's about how much air flow gets underneath the nose from having it as high as possible.

McLaren have been the only team thus far to run a snow plow splitter underneath the nose cone to flow air to the rest of the car. This has allowed them to have a conventional "less drag" nose. It's different conceps that will probably net the same results.

They knew very well other teams were going to go the bump nose approach. Button even mentioned it at the launch they know what they're doing so don't stress...

It was something that someone mentioned during lunch at work today. They are a Ferrari fan so maybe they were just trying to make it look like the hideous speed bump on the Ferrari nose is all part of some grand plan rather than a hideous balls-up! :hehe:

Nice looking car.

Probably the best stepped nose so far.
