doesn't say he needed to learn manual gearing though. :P

It wasn't so much as how to change gears, it was more about when to change gears through the corner. This wasn't mentioned in the article (obviously) but I remember reading it somewhere else on what Jackie Stewart explained the test mostly concentrated on, ie racing lines, changing gears, etc.

I remember being really excited about Jan coming to F1 after all the accolades..huge disappointment. Did you know his son races now? :yikes: SON! How old's Jan? He still seems like a kid to me; how time flies. BUT he must have had that kid before he was shaving!

Seems a long time ago to me... before I was watching F1 in fact. When Jan Magnussen made his debut in the 1995 Pacific Grand Prix, I was only 5!:hehe:

Jan came in with probably more hype than anyother F1 rookie and it was a real shame for the spectators (and Jan himself) that it just didn't deliver success. Ron Dennis said he was the most unorganised driver he ever met and Stewart pretty much chewed him up and spat him out. Shame, but thats F1 for you.

But it was ridiculous to just fire him. Hakkinen took a few years to develop and look what he turned into. Jan probably would have become a GP winner if they just had been a bit more understanding in what was obviously a sh@tbox car to handle. No investment when it comes to F1, either deliver or your out. Same story for Zanardi, Bourdais and a whole host of other drivers. Hopefully Bruno Senna can show some brilliance in the races and not just qualifying as he has the best surname and seems to attract some good sorts too. Go Bruno!

Well it seems Tonio has lost his HRT drive to Narain Karthikeyan, Oh well, hardly a surprise, well about the Tonio, I'd never have guessed Narain would get the seat back.

Oh and I remember Jackie talking with Jan in an F1 TV special, Jan smoked and Jackie hinted there was a lot he wanted to hammer out of Jan, not just the smoking. Frentzen smoked too, Hunt,,, Smoking F1 drivers?????

To be honest... maybe Liuzzi should be happy to get out of F1, now he can search for a series where he can get/hope for better results than struggling to finish a race...
