Virgin have announced they will be carrying the channel. You need to take the sky sports package which is £22.50 a month but least I won't have to switch to sky. Was hoping they would offer just the f1 channel for say £10 a month but least I can get it :)

Are Virgin offering the channel in HD? Last I checked, Sky were keeping a few of the Sports & Movies channels as HD exclusives.

Bah! the reports of it being a pay channel on freeview turned out to be false and I'm pretty sure SKY are keeping the HD for themselves.

Gonna try to get an HD freeview box so I can get BBC HD and maybe got a way of getting SKYs SD feed for their races, either that or going to a mates or the pub which doesn't sound too bad. Not gonna pay SKY a penny tho.

I certainly wouldn't mind nipping over to the pub to watch the race. Although in some cases, it would be impossible wouldn't it? Live coverage of the Asian races for example?

I remember my Dad pointing out years ago that you only ever see his top half on TV and you never see him walking or on long shots. His theory is that the guy was wearing stocking, suspenders and high heels like some sort of Mony Python sketch. Ever notice the way he holds his microphone? Rather than gripping it, he holds it by his finger tips with finger that resemble low quality sausages.

The way he holds a microphone freaks me out. For ages I had convinced myself it was a prosthetic arm, as you never saw the sausage fingers move!

I have Sky HD - so will be checking the channel out - but I do worry about how good its going to be. I'll probably end up watching BBC for their live races and Sky F1 for the ones BBC doesnt have.

Sky will have to fall a long way short of my expectations for me to watch races on the BBC. I'm hoping Simon Lazenby proves more adept at asking interesting questions than Jake Humphrey's monotonous prompts - if so, the package looks good :)

No HD for virgin unfortunately. Sky didn't offer them it, obviously wanted to keep an ace up their sleeve.

Sky Sports has revealed that its dedicated F1 channel is to cover the forthcoming launches and pre-season tests.

The channel will offer coverage throughout this season with two dedicated reporters working amongst the teams at testing and development, plus trackside at every race.

Rachel Brookes and Craig Slater will attend the factories, test sessions and every race as Sky promises up to six day...s of coverage from each Grand Prix, with on-site reports beginning each Tuesday and running through the week to post race reaction. As well as following the team launches, the new channel will attend the pre-season tests at Jerez and Barcelona.

"This is the ultimate news service for F1," said Sky Sports News HD Executive Editor, Andy Cairns. " Our reporters will be trackside and in the Sky Sports News HD studio ensuring viewers are always up to date with what's happening on and off the track. And viewers with iPads will be able to follow our F1 coverage wherever they happen to be via the new Sky Sports News app which features on-demand video, the latest news and interviews, data as well as Sky Sports News itself."

The dedicated F1 channel will be provided at no extra charge to all Sky TV customers who take both Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 or who take Sky's HD pack of channels. It will be found at 408 on Sky's on-screen guide, after a scheduled move of the Sky Sports channels. Sky Sports viewers without the Sky+ HD pack will receive a standard definition version.

Sky Sports will be broadcasting the McLaren launch LIVE next Wednesday.

At least Sky has David Croft and Martin Brundle for the the commentary team. Although BBC has Ben Edwards who is also good. I will be watching all the BBC's live races then watching the none live ones on Sky.

My wife and I are both disabled pensioners, we can just manage to pay for SKY's basic package. I religiously watch every formula 1 race when ITV had it, then the BBC. Now for no other reason than the worship of the God "PROFIT", nearly 2/3 of those who follow Formula 1 on TV are being denied the right to do so. If I now wrote as to what I would like to do to Bernie Ecclestone, I would be banned from this site. I am surprised that SKY are not trying to get exclusive rights to the 2012 olympics.

...being denied the right to do so...

:?:

You can still watch 10 races live, and highlights of the other 10. I dont think you have a case for the European Courts just yet.....

I can understand derfledermouse's frustrations. We've done pretty well watching F1 without Sky, why do they have to jump on the bandwagon.? Damn Bernie and his greed!!!
