[Ayrton Senna is God]

Has this forum at any point ever evaluated the F1 drivers to get a perspective on who is best?

Perhaps because there are a few rookies on the grid we should leave them out, in the interest of fairness.

What categories should the drivers be rated on (out of 10 or 20)? And which drivers (just the top ones or all that have driven more than 10 races)

I was thinking of:

Overtaking
Wet weather
Qualifying
Tyre management
Strategy (which I suppose could be merged with Tyre Management)
Defensive (preventing overtakes)
Style of driving, their smoothness, technique etc
Attention to detail/will to win/intensity/determination

If we could avoid the arguing I guess everyone could make a list for each catagory and the averages worked out at the end.

Hmmm ok, so in which catagory(s)

Overtaking - Lewis (Think he has proven this over the years, the most exciting to watch)
Wet weather - Jenson (well changing conditions at least)
Qualifying - Vettel (obviously! He seems to carry more speed into the corner)
Tyre management - Jenson or Vettel (both know how hard to push in the stint)
Strategy (which I suppose could be merged with Tyre Management) - Jenson or Vettel (as above)
Defensive (preventing overtakes) - Schumacher (although it is often OTT)
Style of driving, their smoothness, technique etc - Alonso (the most complete driver)
Attention to detail/will to win/intensity/determination - Alonso (the most complete driver, often gets the car above where it should be)

Overtaking = Hamilton, Button, Kobayashi, Alguersuari (he made some great drives from 18th last year!)
Wet weather = Vettel, Hamilton, Button, Schumacher.
Qualifying = Vettel, Hamilton, Trulli, Kovalainen, Rosberg.
Tyre management = Vettel, Button, Alonso, Alguersuari, Perez, Sutil, di Resta
Defensive (preventing overtakes) = Hamilton, Schumacher, Alonso.
Style of driving, their smoothness, technique etc = Vettel, Button, di Resta, Rosberg
Attention to detail/will to win/intensity/determination = All of them.

All those ones I'd say he's best at.

Tryre management not quite so good, but not as bad as people think.
Strategy not quite so good.
Attention to detail not quite so good
