Reading elsewhere it would appear that nose configuration won't actually be legal next year so i'm taking that image with a pinch of salt... The rules supposedly affect the lowest point of the entire nose rather than just the tip. I thought i'd expect to see more highly sloped 'v' noses similar to what was on the RB5 but according to Scarbs (who no doubt has spent a decent bit of time looking at the regs) these will effectively be rendered illegal too. One thing we could possibly see (if the rules permit, i haven't checked) is a gap in the nose cone like the Ferrari F2008 had, in a bid to get back some lost airflow to the tea tray, barge boards etc.

I'm thinking that the noses may look like the 2010 Merc only with the nose ending closer to the front wing - looking like some sort of erectile dysfunction disorder.

The Force India team will unveil its 2012 challenger on February 3, the team announced on Tuesday.

The launch, which coincides with the unveiling of the new Ferrari, will take place at the Silverstone circuit from 9am.

Testing at Jerez gets under way on February 7.

The Hingham-based outfit's challenger will remain in the green and yellow colours that the outfit used when it raced under the Team Lotus name.

The new car will run for the first time at the opening pre-season test that takes place in Jerez from February 7.

So we get to see the first new 2012 car in a mere WEEK!

Great stuff. I'm glad Caterham are retaining the green and yellow. Adds a much-needed splash of colour to the midfield (well, hopefully they'll be midfield!)

We'll be seeing the new Toro Rosso at the first test too. I wonder how "different" it will be from the RBR this time?

Scuderia Toro Rosso has confirmed its new car will be ready for the opening pre-season test at Jerez next month, after passing all the mandatory crash tests this week.

For 2012, all Formula 1 teams must complete the FIA crash tests before they are allowed to run their cars on track. In previous years, the tests only had to be done before first practice for the season opener.

In a statement published on its website on Friday, Toro Rosso confirmed that its car had been approved, and that it was on course to run for the first time at Jerez on February 7.

"We now know the car is strong enough and as from 7 February in Jerez, we can start work on making it quick and reliable," said the team.

Toro Rosso is running an all-new driver line-up in 2012, with Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne replacing Sebastien Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari.

Marussia due to race new car at second test (which starts 21st Feb), so we can assume the car will be unveiled around this time, perhaps the day before?
