Do what I did...wait for the last week of sale and snap it. The price of my LCD42 started at around USD1200 and gradually decreased, decreased, and I got it for just above USD800 just 1 month later. A week later the TV became an obsolete model. Yes, this is LG... Been using it for past two years though, no regrets.

I've never bought the very latest technology, way too expensive and outdated quicker than it takes to leave the store... I have a 40in 1080P LCD that I bought in the spring of 2009 for just under $600 and thusfar I am very happy with it still, absolutely great when combined with my PS3 and blu-ray playback! We also have a 32in 720p LCD in the bedroom which we picked up for $350 in the summer of 2010 and again we are more than happy with it, I see no reason to upgrade to OLED or 3D in the immediate future. 10x the cost, will it be 10x better than what I have now?

I've heard of these shiny DVD thingies. Like VHS only flat and round I gather.

I'm just sayin' - you CAN get great stuff on a TV set.
