Jimmy Stewart, a one-time Grand Prix driver and older brother of Jackie, has died. He was 76.

The Scotsman contested the 1953 British Grand Prix in a Cooper-Bristol, qualifying 15th before retiring after 79 laps. His career also included spells with the Ecurie Ecosse team in sportscars, but he retired from racing in 1955 after an accident at Silverstone.

In later years, he helped spark younger brother Jackie's interest in motor racing.

A private family funeral is scheduled for Tuesday January 8, with a thanksgiving service in Scotland due to take place in February.

Sad news. My thoughts are with Sir Jackie and the whole family circle.
