Indeed. But times changed when big Ron rolled in. :P

Big Ron? I'm not sure what he'd say about a black guy driving for McLaren!

Expected. Now hoping to see Sutil nail that Williams seat and thrash Maldonado.

Are there any other contenders for the Williams seat? Buemi, Algersuari, Petrov & Senna must have been on Frank's voicemail by now.

I would expect everyone to be trying to get that seat... Sutil, Petrov, Heidfeld, Alguersuari, Buemi, Barrichello, Senna, Liuzzi, D'Ambrosio, Karthikeyan and Chandhok all drove in 2011 and are without a seat. Of course I'd like to see Alguersuari there, but I don't expect him to win that fight... unless Williams is starving for money, then Repsol might be useful :D

The poll on F1.com. I voted for Schumacher just to rebel against stupid polls.

Which of these former world champions has the best chance of toppling Vettel in 2012?

Fernando Alonso
Jenson Button
Michael Schumacher

So that's di Resta and Hulkenbourg for Force India. Sutil hasn't really moved forward for the past couple of seasons so a team change may be the boot up the backside he needs to show us the form that impressed a few seasons ago.

The latest rumour is that Sutil could go to Ferrari and partner Alonso (poor guy) in 2013: Ferrari interested in Sutil as replacement for Massa. He is supposedly wanting a 1 year contract with Willaims, whereas they want 2 years out of him which is the sticking point.

What a ridiculous poll. Of course, on f1.com, they can only have three options it seems. But it's fruitless opening a poll like this until after qualifying of the first event of 2012.

Just found out Ricciardo got a STR drive. Awesome! :D But surprise to see Vergne get the other seat. Thought they would have kept Algey for another year like some others have said. Anyway bring on 2012!!

While Toro Rosso is putting the Silly in silly season........
Force India is taking it away. Hulkenberg and Diresta. Solid. Definitely the making of a team that looks like it wants to get ahead of the midfield.

UNLIKE Toro Rosso. Seems they are a team designed and conceived to be midfield and nothing more. Such poop.

Hulk deserved it!

Force India Ftw! :) For the next season, one of the two midfield stars (with Torro Rosso)! Maybe even Sauber...

Care to answer the question? If he was so deserving of a drive based on his performance 2 seasons ago, why didn't he drive in 2011?

They're quite open about their purpose, which is to aid the development of young Red Bull drivers. This is something I agree with, although I did find it surprising they dropped both of their drivers for a brand new pair; it would probably have been wiser to bump Buemi, promote Ricciardo and move Vergne to HRT. Still, though, they're doing what they set out to do and you have to respect them for that, despite all the other reasons they provide not to respect them. :hehe:

Williams wanted money, something which he does not bring much of (and actively stated at the time that he was not going to go searching for sponsorship to secure a drive; if someone wanted him, it should be for his talent). Hulkenberg had an amazing junior career prior to his entry to F1 and, although he got off to a slow start in 2010, he showed his talent in the second half of the season, scored a good few points and made a number of appearances in Q3, including a pole position in Brazil that year. He's also demonstrated his speed in the Friday practice sessions this year. He deserves his chance.
