Bernie's entittled to his opinions, he isnt managing either driver. Wether its wise to spout off Uncoroborated opinions about high profile people in the sporting areana that you actually run, is another matter. But then Bernie's always doing things that arent wise.

Whitmarsh probably went all gooey eyed when he read it but you can't pin this one on him.

Seems Ecclestone cant help himself from jumping on the 'lets all guess what's up with Lewis' bandwagon.

His driving?

On a more topic-related vein.... what's wrong with Whitmarsh's relationship with the drivers?? everytime i read or heard something from him it was normally supportive towards either. Mclaren didnt have a great season... or rather, Red Bull had too much of a dominant season. And Lewis had some sort of sturggle, but still... it was far from a flop. There was X, Y Z number of mistakes, but on driving pace and so on.... he was fine. What was Whitmasrh supposed to do?
#286247
Yes I think it was established that his driving was below par....the fun and games were people giving their perceived reasons for it.

On Whitmarsh...Oh I cant be bothered. Ive said it all before, if you read through this thread you'll find it all.

Most of what i've seen about Whitmarsh have been interpretations of things he has said. Most everything he says is pretty middle-of-the-road-in-typical-diplomatic-fashion. Also, Lewis has never come foward about anything, and really... had his races/results been bad because of things other than mostly silly accidents, there would be a case; but as it happened, there's not much need to go around much this time. It's not like one or the other won by a point or due to a dodgy call from the pit lane here.

Some fodder for racechick (expanding from MW to BE):

ESPNF1 (interview with the Guardian):
[...]
"I think he [LH] had some personal problems during the year which affected him quite a lot," Ecclestone added. "A lot to do with these things, it depends an awful lot on the people you surround yourself with, and who are in a position to influence you. I think he just fell into a lot of people that I think weren't good for him. When his dad was looking after him, his dad was a bit more … obviously it didn't suit Lewis, which was why they split, I think he didn't appreciate how much help his dad was."

Earlier this year Ecclestone was reportedly unhappy about a video that appeared on YouTube in which McLaren guest Ice-T walked around one of the team's cars making lewd comments.

"It's our fault, because we tend to encourage celebrities," Ecclestone said. "It's good. Not so much for those of us who get our hands dirty but for all the sponsors who turn up with their guests and like to say: 'Oh, we saw whoever-it-was.' They forget they've come to watch Formula One. The difference is that we can handle them, because we're not directly involved. He [Hamilton] sees somebody like that, he admires the guy, so he'll start copying a little bit what they're up to."

But Ecclestone has been impressed with how Hamilton's team-mate Jenson Button has conducted himself this year.

"I'm very happy with Button this year," he said. "He's done a really good job and he's been much better as a person with the public than he was when he was the world champion [in 2009], which is good, because he's a nice guy."

If you read what he says you realize he's not saying ANYTHING... simply insinuating, what exactly does Lewis Hamilton's father do? Is the problem that gangsta rappers are a bad influence for the sport? Is it the rap or the gangsta or the shwartza? Now it's clear to me why the race edits always feature some nondescript bad rock song from 80's wannabee hair bands. Bernie don't play dat.

I can't seem to recall Hamilton putting in a Button-at-Canada-esque drive. Hamilton is showing this year that fastest doesn't always win races.

Lewis would of won Canada if Button hadn't put him into the wall

Yes. He was a lot faster.
Button also turfed Alosno off in that race.

But the comeback he made was of the highest calibre. :D

It certainly was. But two of his main competitors were eliminated, making winning somewhat easier.

Didn't realise that Button was driving Hamiltons car. Must have been a dodgy tow rope, should have used a bar.

When you're dead last you have no main competitors. But it's not like he deliberately took them out they were both as much fault as the other drivers, commonly called racing incidents.

And Big Azza I don't think many have had a Button Canadaesque drive, not even your fave

Yay! I'm loved! You guys actually read my posts! :woohoo:

I think cheekybru quoted me on something I wrote a couple of months ago. :wavey:

I still think I standby what I wrote. Using racechick's reasoning here... Hamilton also punted Webber off into a spin, and he dropped back to 15th and finished 3rd, so maybe Webber would have won, and not Button and not Hamilton and not Alonso.

So... we probably shouldn't go down this path of thinking I feel. What happened, happened, and Button put in a (well flawless isn't the word) really really really good drive.

Bollocks to all the "what if..." nonsense. What happened happened... and it made for the best race of the year 8-)

China was better 8-)
