Bit short on deck space though. No practical use for passangers, AHTS, supply of cargo ships. Can't see this taking over from diesel electric engines than are currently used in ships, especially as commercial supply ships are now being built to be fueled by LPG.

Nice to see it can be done though I suppose.

I guess it can only run in the daytime, if it's not raining?

Why would that be? Surely there are some heavy duty batteries available.

11 tons of lithium ion cells.

While it's an impressive feat I'm still not convinced by solar power.

Haha you took the bait! Batteries are the furthest thing from environmentally friendly. They are also very dangerous. Actually the solar panels and their manufacture are also less than eco happy.

Exactly, but idiots like Greenpeace and other environmental nutcases don't see it like that.

You guys keep repeating this - it doesn't become truer.

Sails aren't good enough for you as a use of renewable energy resource? :wavey:

So, when there's no wind, you do great blow job on your sail?

You do the same thing as when there's no sunlight. :wavey:

I'd store the solar energy and keep on going when there's no sunlight, at least for a while :wavey:
