I buried our pet guinea pig Majel this evening, she was 3 1/2 years old when she passed away while sleeping... my wife is very upset... it's sad but as an owner of many small pets over the years, I know their life span is short and have learned to live with it!

Yep, these are my new toys only the ones in the picture are a few years newer and don't have so many scrapes and our counterbalance doesn't have doors and a rear window which means very effective air conditioning. Spent a couple of hours in the yard hooning about on the counterbalance - best way to learn according to the instructor after I'd passed my test. Nippy wee thing but only goes to around 11mph, which is enough to flatten someone. Going to be fun in the snow!

It's fine until you realise that the suspension is the seat cushion and your backside but it is fun to drive - the steering is so much more responsive than a car. The bosses wern't bothered seeing as I need to get experience pretty quick with it as there will be shifts when I am the only forklift driver in the warehouse. Best way to learn is mucking. The reach truck (2nd one) only goes about 8mph but it's not meant to go outside so it's fast enough for the indoor obstacle course that is the warehouse. In winter we may have a bigger one for the snow which last year was a 5 ton diesel which will gas everyone in the warehouse seeing as there is no mechanical extraction. Apparently my Sunday shift is just going to be monkeying about in the forklift under the premise of tidying the yard.

After the passing of our pet guinea pig Majel on Thursday, we have bought a rabbit and named it Kaiko, the kids missed having a pet around so we caved and bought another pet!

I just had dinner at a new restaurant nearby. The place is run by a CIA (Culinary Institute of America) graduate and it shows: my rabbit was EXCELLENT!

It's a 'her' and she is very docile, loves to be petted; which is good for the kids... especially as we have an autistic son and he doesn't deal well with lively pets!

Went to see Hamlet. It was performed in German, by German actors, and ran for a full 2hrs 45mins without an interval. Those details would be an offput to many, but by golly it was one of the FINEST pieces of theatre I've ever seen.

In German?! I had to endure reading the Shakespeare play what can't be mentioned in 5th year at Secondary School. It was bad enough understanding it when written in "Ye Olde English"!
