Bernie says lots of things that don't turn out to be true. No doubt he said this for a reason though, probably to influence something or someone.

Could this be a veiled threat (Economic Slash and Burn) to influence the SFO investigation of Bernie announced two weeks ago.

This has been a long time coming, as I said in another thread, Bernie is making deals to line his and CVC's own pockets, what's best for F1 doesn't come into it, as far as I know all teams are based in Europe, most in England... and the biggest fanbase is in Europe along with most of the best circuits, exceptions are Montreal, Interlagos and Melbourne (in my opinion). I never thought that I'd say this but I would welcome a breakaway if the teams are willing to stick together...

Suzuka? :yikes:

I realised that I missed Japan off that list but couldn't be bothered to go back and edit as I wrote Suzuka in another thread about a similar issue with new tracks being commissioned!

Bernie, you know who should be finished? :director: YOU!

Just fooking die already before you ruin F1 beyond repair :banghead::irked:

If it wasn't for MrE, then F1 would not probably be the global success it is these days. Even if you don't like the guy you have to admitt that he is a necessary evil.

True that, plus you have to consider that first and foremost, MrE's job is to generate a return for CVC and it's investors. This will involve making decisions that are not widely appreciated but then if he wasn't doing what he is doing then he wouldn't be doing his job properly.

No, not anymore he is. He's become more of a liability these days - he's just evil without the necessary :irked: He should speed up the planning of his succession NOW! I don't care if he wants to be embalmed in his own F1 mausoleum or whatever, but get it done quickly now!

Well he is. CVC's investors are still getting a decent and increasing return for their money and the teams are getting the prize money that they have demanded for the various finishing positions in the championship. F1 is a business, not a sport. MrE is a businessman that is doing his job, i.e. selling F1 races to the highest bidder and doing a pretty good job at it too albeit some venues have been duds but that's to be expected.

I understand that Formula 1 is a business but if it's solely a business and no longer a sport then what's the point of it other than to line the pockets of shareholders, if things keep on going the way it is; it will no longer be a global sport as we'll end up with 20 races in Asia where countries are willing to pay the ever increasingly amounts Bernie asks for to host a F1 race!

She's not getting it if reports are to be believed. MrE's reputed successor is the guy who (I think) is his current right hand man. Seems sensible if this is true.

hopefully his protege will actually like F1

would be awesome to have someone who actually treats it like a sport

Why would MrE or his successor treat it like a sport? It's not been a sport for a very long time. Teams enter to make money and investors invest to make money. The cars dualing it out on the track are just an income generator for the powers that be and it will stay that way for ever more.

Yes but just because it makes money doesn't mean that it isn't a sport... if it wasn't a sport then it wouldn't be a business

It's a business for those who make money from it.

And it's a sport for those who watch it.

So what i'm saying is if there were to be a fan who took over then they would treat F1 better and not like crap
