Yup. Not sure what that has to do with this though.

Kimi Raikkonen's signing up with Lotus Renault changes everything... there are now Bruno Senna and Romain Grosjean back on the market (assuming that Vitaly Petrov is partnering Raikkonen of course).

[acosmichippo]

have we got a master list of all the drivers looking for seats next year?

[ffklv74]

Kubica's career is over. Kimi in the seat for 2 years?
Boulier was being a little facetious when he said the doors will always be open for Robert. Door open to being a test driver he means!
Hiring Kimi is almost like erasing all momory of Robert, but i guess the show must go on.
Robert can't drive for ferarri in 2013 either. He is still unproven, both before and after the accident. They wont put a man with a slow arm, and 2 years without driving an F1 car in the 2013 ferarri. It's too risky.
Robert would have to get a drive elsewhere and start over from scratch in proving that he is one of the best.
With his accident his past doesn't matter any more.

It's like putting a 60 year old mohamed ali with parkinsons in the ring, simply on the basis of his past. It just doesn't make sense. The same can be said of Robert, as good as he used to be, it doesn't make him any more valuable a driver in his current state.
Getting Kimi in that seat was a swift and practical move by Boulier. Stake holders had him under pressure.

Now for Sutil to get seat #2 or go to williams or ferrari.

I think you underestimate Robert Kubica. I'm sure he will be driving an F1 car around in 2012 whether it be just test miles. 2 years away hasn't stopped the hiring of Schumacher or Raikkonen.

I think these two have been proven.

His point is that Kubica is still unproven in a top car. He impressed in a midfield, that's about it. Like Fisichella and Kovaleinen, they handle crap cars like masters...but at the sharp end they are lost boys.

[bud]

Are we forgetting his BMW days? Slightly above midfield. He was in contention for the title in 08 in a far less capable car than Ferrari or McLaren. I say if you can impress in a midfield car which overll is harder to drive in comparison you can bet your last dollar you will do well in a top car.

Robert just needs to build strength up in his arm which he will do, he hasn't lost his skill.

What you're talking about is still potential, not proven material. Yes he might be damn good and make the current Top 3 look like crap in the same equipment but you never know. It's a different ballgame at the front, and added to that his severe injuries.

I think his days at BMW are good enough to compare to a top team. After all he won a race and they were a works team.

Kubica will be back in a

a

Ferrari (made you wait for this earth shettering revelation).

He'll be Massa's replacement for when Massa escapses Ferrari's claws.

A year of consistency amongst the top teams. The fireworks will be taking place in the midfield. A fair number of very worthy contenders will be cast aside without a drive
