To elaborate. There is no league and my message was forget comparing Hamilton with Alonso. The day Hamilton becomes a champion (maybe next season), then start comparing him with another champion. F1 is only for winners and only Champions are remembered.

Is that so? Then what about Stirling Moss? I think he compares rather well with most

I'm sick of all this Stirling Moss was a legend talk, if he was that good he would have won more races...

I didn't know that, cruel world F1 is, nobody remembers who came 2nd. I knew all the winners from those years however...

I'll adjust my statement to, "If he was so good he would have won more championships!"

Well he was up against Fangio for much of it and maybe not always in the best car. Its a pretty impressive record tho. What about Villeneuve senior? Dont think he had a world champioship did he? His son did but Gilles was better.

Gilles Villeneuve never won and his son was better. It takes a lot to win the championship when your father is dead and especially without a superpercar. He also became champion in Indycar.

Remember what matters most in F1 is if you win or lose not how you drive your car.
If Gilles was alive I don't think you would have mentioned him apart from his crazy and aggressive driving.

You think Senna's death helped him reach god like status in F1's memories?

Turbosis is being abit black and white with his comments. Drivers and people in F1 have an affect on F1 fans that transcend just remembering winners.

Agreed and anyone in their right mind who has the slightest concept of reality as to the greatness of some of our fallen hero's would not have said such a travesty. I respect one's outlook but that's kinda a far fetched, biased and basically an uninformed outlook.
