Lewis wants to re sign with McLaren once his current contract runs out. Guess any feelings of favouritism aren't being picked up by him... Just some of his fans.

But he's in no hurry. And nor is whitmarsh. I guess that got missed by some people.

Someone has never heard of negotiations. :hehe:

How would you know if he is in no hurry? Do you work for either Hamilton or Whitmarsh or are you just guessing?

Wouldn't you say if his team mate was being favoured he'd want out ASAP?

Not if he's a masochist - one never knows, could be an after effect of his Honda years...

He's never driven for Honda. :hehe:

Lewis Hamilton is "confident" about about signing new contract with McLaren.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula ... 928246.stm

"I don't think there's any question of my commitment to the team," the 26-year-old said. "I just want to continue on this path."

Asked whether he thought it was likely he would stay, Hamilton replied: "I do. I'm confident about that."

I still stand by my belief that Lewis will wait and see how the McLaren shapes up pace wise with RBR for 2012 before he re-signs with his current team. If they remain consistently 0.3 (or worse) off the pace then I think a question mark must be raised about his long term future with the team. I notice in the same story he says all his focus is on 2012.

I just can't see the RBR thing happening. I never have, right from the word go. That team must be looking towards the likes of Ricciardo or people like that, to step in when Webber bows out. That's what I feel anyway.

Thats Plan A for sure....but this is F1 and I could easily see some arms at RBR being twisted if it looks as if they are going to dominate race after race and championship after championship (not saying they will just that its a possibility at the moment) with Vettel having no serious competition unless Ricciardo or Vergne or somebody really is the second coming which I tend to be sceptical about.

I could well imagine some behind the scenes scenario whereby they are told either they let Hamilton join and allow a really exciting close intra-team battle between two of the best drivers - good for the sport OR they can expect some legislation that deliberately targets them and brings them back to the field.

Of course McLaren might well build the class of the field car for next year and then of course Lewis will stay put. Although I have always thought (and I hate to say this in Hamiltons own support thread) that in a very good car Jenson Button would be an extremely difficult driver to beat as your team mate. Lewis comes more into his own when the car is not quite there for JB's liking.

Ron did not constantly wax lyrical about Lewis over Alonso, not until Alonso blackmailed McLaren.

I don't agree with that statement, I believe Ron Dennis 'waxed lyrical' just as much about Lewis. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that point...
