Construction has begun at America’s next failed F1 circuit

Jalopnik superfriend and New Jersey explorer J.F. Musial captured this image of the start of construction for the New Jersey Grand Prix. It might just be the paddock/parking garage, located in exceedingly glamorous Weehawken, but it's a start.

With this humble frame begins a tortuous, drawn-out, extremely public process of building a Formula One circuit, not an easy task anywhere, especially in the United States.

Hopefully, throngs of rich New York financiers and obscenely young-moneyed New Jersians will get behind the Grand Prix and keep things running smoothly so this doesn't become another failed experiment.

I agree with the optimism. Its a joke. America doesn't have what it takes to take F1 seriously. The country itself is joke when it comes to sports outside their own.

If they keep those speed bumps, it will add a whole new excitement level in the sport.

He is American... he raises some valid points. World champions in a sport that only Americans play is kinda arrogant to the rest of the world.

Us Australians have our own code of Football but we would never be so presumptuous to start calling our teams World Champions considering Australians are the only ones who play it professionally. :wink:

Bernie is referred to as the Supremo of Formula 1. He's not the king or queen (hehe) but I don't lose no sleep over that.
