I don't think he can save the team. Toyota have good people, but the problem is the men in grey suits in Japan keep interfering with proceedings. First and foremost, they need to but out and allow the people who know what they're talking about to get on with what they do best.

It's kinda strange that Toyota can dominate one market and fall flat on their face in another one of which they have experience at, crazy stuff. I want to see Toyota succeed in F1 they have the money and the drive but have not, imho, put the proper staff into place for that goal to reach fruition.

the only yhing is they are much too full of them selves, they beleive they pump money in they'll be fine but this is not the case, to succeed you need the right people the right sponsers help etc.

I think Toyota will pull their works team out of F1 soon and concentrate on their relationship with Williams.

That is something I would actually love to see as I never viewed Toyota as anything other than being a great engine or technical entity.

Yes, I think that this is a good point 7UpJordan. Toyota could do well as an engine/ technical supplier. Williams / Toyota would be a good partnership I think. But, and its a big but, the suits would still have to stay out of it, as you all say. Can they do that?

I once worked for a component supplier to the vehicle manufacturers, and Toyota (UK) were the best company to deal with. They made decisions very quickly and then put their decision into action very quickly, with the minimum of interference from Japan. Honda were not quite as decisive but still much better than the Europeans, who took months to make the same decisions that were made in weeks by Toyota / Honda.

I don't think toyota think that money will buy success it is more of a case that they think that the people they employ and pay massive salaries to know what they are doing. Hopefully this time limit will get the guys backsides moving to at least make progress. They have made a good start it getting rid of ralf now all they need is a good capable midfield car

Problem is they are trying to run an F1 team with corporate japanese business process. They need to get their heads out of their own asses and hand complete control over to somebody like Ross Brawn.

I'm sure there was a bidding war before Ross joined Honda.

f1live:
The relationship between Toyota and Williams in 2007 extended beyond supply and receipt of engines, according to a senior figure of the Japanese manufacturer.

Yoshiaki Kinoshita, Toyota Executive Vice-President, revealed in the outfit's annual motorsport report for 2007 that Sir Frank Williams was called upon for key advice last year.

Toyota also dipped into Williams' expertise in other areas, including for the development of its quick-shift gearbox for the TF107, it was confirmed.

"Team Principal Frank Williams advised us on many occasions, particularly on matters concerning the politics that are so much a part of the F1 world,â€

Frank is so desperate to stay in F1 that he may give away to much information and Toyota will be beating Williams in the near future! :D

The moment the Toyota/Williams partnership was announced I thought "Heh, Toyota have got to be giving discounts in return for chassis data."

Hasn't helped them much has it?

Aero is where it's at and Toyota joined just before Williams discovered problems with their new wind tunnel.

If the FW30 is quick Toyota will be doing a cost/benefits analysis pronto and I'm sure they would look into shutting down their F1 team and focusing on being an engine supplier.

Another thing to consider is Honda, if Honda do well Toyota will never leave F1 until they beat them, the Japanese are very competative like that...

No chance, Toyota don't know how to use their resources to their full potential.
