KERS won the 2009 Belgian GP :irked:

If it wasn't for the Ferrari possessing it vs the Force India lacking it, then Fisi would've won that race.

:-| If you want to ignore a whole host of factors then i guess you can say that. End of the day a guy who apparently didn't care anymore won a race in what was technically the 4th best car that season! Not a bad effort! :hehe:

Shame about this news, ah well. Williams should be after Sutil now, definitely. Although i do wonder if the Renault factor will impact the final decision.

The reason Kimi got past in the first place was down to KERS (Ferrari) vs no KERS (Force India). From then on, Fisi was all over the back of Kimi, but couldn't overtake due to the extra power boost Kimi had on the straights. If both cars were equal (KERS-wise) then it's quite clear that Giancarlo Fisichella would've won that race!

Ferrari played Force India's strategy off perfectly that day, and Raikkonen drove a perfect race to keep Fisi away from even having a chance. KERS or not if Fisi had gotten the slipstream he'd have passed cause the Force India was so areodynamically slippery on the straights - but Raikkonen didn't give that opportunity exiting key bends, and that is in spite of the KERS actually disadvantaging him through corners and especially under braking. So to say it's 'quite clear' is, as i said, ignoring several factors.

Kimi's defence was indeed brilliant. I don't want to seem as if I'm taking anything away from Kimi, because he drove perfectly to keep Fisi behind him and go on to win the race. But he was aided... by KERS. Something that Fisi lacked.

It was still a factor, despite a flawless drive from Kimi, and a flawless strategy from Ferrari. :)

Back onto the topic of Kimi and Williams, it simply wouldn't make sense to pay a third of your total budget for a driver, even with a Renault V8, it's going to take a lot or time, money and R&D to put the Williams car in the midfield, let alone into a position to win races, Kimi is a decent racer but I don't consider him to be a driver that makes a big difference like an Alonso or Vettel.

But could a name like Kimi's attract more sponsorship to the team, thus allowing for a bigger budget for development? And isn't there some other sponsor rumored to be in the deal to help the financing?

Whether or not it's worthwhile to Williams will depend on just how much sponsorship he brings, even with Raikkonen onboard, WIlliams still wont be an attractive prospect for top sponsors IMO!

I'm not sure where I'd prefer, we know Williams heritage but have not shown any signs of improvement of late. Renault on the other hand recently won titles not too long ago but have changed ownership since then. As lotus who knows what budgets will be like but I think they're the better bet.
