I swear all these decisions on drivers gets later and later every year. Years back, most of this crap would have been sorted now, wouldn't it?

We'd get to mid-season (around Hockenheim) and next year's changes would start being announced with aplomb!

Keeps us busy during the off-season - nothing wrong with that :)

Good point! Gives us all something to get our teeth into during the lack of racing.... instead of each other

It's just that the races are going on longer into the year. There have always been driver changes left until the start of the following season, especially back in the good old days of unlimited testing.

According to Brundle during the qualifying coverage, the KR and Williams negotiations have broken down and they've confirmed KR will not be joining Williams.

If they want a good driver they'll have to spend good driver kind of money.

Williams choice is to pay for one of the best who takes with them Red Bull sponsorship amoung other things or pay bottom dollar for a bitter old has-been/never-was and take cash from a pay driver.

I also heard that too and I am happy about this news (if true), I believe the money would be better spent on a decent up and coming driver and the budget used for car development. Yes, Raikkonen will be a bigger draw for sponsors but at the same time he doesn't like to do the PR events and isn't good with dealing with the press in general...

He seems to get on fine with the press when he was rallying and if anything was quite different. I think his dour demeanour was more to do with the so-called "professional" image that McLaren and Ferrari like their drivers to portray.

What team would not want Kimi? There's no downside to it. He is worth 30 million Euros. But it is not the right route for Williams to take at this juncture. You could have the best driver, but having spent all your money on him you have none left to give him a good car. Then he will not win you any races.

And theres no guarantee Kimi would win races, even if the car was reasonable. He wasnt winning when he left and he's been out for two years. 30 mil is a mighty big gamble for a guy who might not win.

30 million Euros will be worth about 50 dollars within a couple of weeks.
