I recall not too long ago Ron Dennis talking about McLaren Racing in America with the GT3, he was also saying about possible other series McLaren could race in the states such as IRL which i found surprising as its another open wheel series even though they have made cars for that in the past. But we know Honda is there powering some of the cars. Perhaps this is going to be a link in a few years?

Personally I was hoping with their new production plant and hiring of engine designers that they would make their own F1 engines as they do for the road cars.

Since Mercedes came to F1, it was predictable that someday they would separate themselves at some point.
I didn't live the McLaren-Honda years, so I don't know how it was back then.
The Honda years I followed weren't that convincing to be a part of McLaren, some fine work must have been done those last years if Honda wants to pull a competitive engine out.
So I guess McLaren loses it's silver...

The silver was orginally to do with West tobacco from 1998.

1997 no?
But having the Mercedes engines i think it was a good reason to keep the silver.
So does that mean that they will keep their silver in tribute for West?

My mistake, 1997 it was. The silver is quite a distinctive eye catching colour scheme that I think they would have kept it no matter which engine they had.

Maybe. But if Honda finally supplies engines to McLaren, they won't go back to their white-red?

Even in the West days the silver was for Mercedes, that's why the engine cover was silver. Without Mercedes McLaren probably will lose their chrome. But depends whois sponsoring them as to what the livery will be. With no sponsor papaya orange is McLarens true livery.

Err.nice livery, but no thanks. Makes me think of Arrows cars which were out in the rain too long.

This is a winner anyday...ditch the chrome and go back to this!! :D

Whoever is the title sponsor will have control over the main colours, I would guess. Honda as a works engine supplier didn't seem(to me anyways) to exert colour influence on its teams in the past.

Speaking of Bruce and Denny Orange,
31 year old car now, I wanted one then and I still do. There were supposed to be 250 but they only made 10 in the end. So, probably not gonna happen. This, gents, is the father of the mighty F1.
