He wants to destabilise Lewis. Forcefully wresting away the top gunner position to Jenson. Lewis won't let it happen though. As much a MW wants Button to be top gun, Buuton has to beat Hamilton wheel to wheel before that status quo is changed. And yes, Hamiltonistas, even though Button has more points this year, he knows he is still didn't beat the real Lewis Hamilton.

Lewis fans should just accept MW has to be diplomatic when talking about his drivers, both WDC and with Jenson joining the team I think there was going to be suggestions Lewis would be favored. I think in the 2 seasons he's been there MW has just tried to keep things nuetral. But ofcourse any praise for Jenson is met by Lewis fans as favoritism.:rolleyes::banghead:

Very well said! If MW wanted to destablise LH, he wouldn't be trying to get him to sign a multi-year extension, MW realises he probably has the best driver pairing on the grid, I simply believe that many people have underestimated JB, frankly a lot of LH fans have simply come up with excuses instead of accepting that JB has been the better driver this season, simple as that!!!

Nope, its difficult to agree with that. There are 28 points between them, and lets not forget that Lewis DID have many bad strategy calls by his own team (in qualifying mostly), and also the fact that he potentially lost 35 points in one race (in relation to teammate) where he got knocked out by his own teammate (while said teammate won it).

This has been a nightmare year for him, but it wasn't all down to Lewis, more so on stupid stewarding during races and the inconsistencies which have played an unnaturally significant part in 2011. And we still have 1 race to go. If Lewis wins and teammate DNFs...its even stevens, which would be pretty impressive considering all that's happened. :P

Yep.

Whitmarsh has supported both drivers all season only (and here is the key bit - fanboys and girls pay attention) he's supported them in different ways. Button has been praised for exceeding expectations and coming out on top and he has been sympathetic with Hamilton and has backed him to the hilt even when an incident has been (beyond all reasonable doubt) Hamiltons fault.

It's not like the days of Uncle Ron when he only had eyes for one driver at a time.

This season could actually prove to be hugely beneficial to Lewis. He has a very strong team-mate in Jenson Button, who has beaten him fair and square this year. Not like in the days when Lewis had it easy with Heikki Kovalainen's lacklustre performances in the sister car, which was the main reason behind the team's loss of the WCC in 2008.

I'm glad to see that Lewis is getting pushed and beaten by his team-mate, because this will fire Lewis up to be even stronger in the McLaren next season. There's no doubting that the Woking team have the strongest driver-pairing on the grid, and they will continue to push each other to the maximum next season. If anything, Lewis will be stronger as a result of this season's trials.

And look, he won the previous Grand Prix... it's starting already.

I think the season will be beneficial to Lewis and I agree about the McLaren pairing being the strongest on the grid. But I dont think Jenson is responsible for Lewis' bad season. Rather Lewis' bad season has made jenson look stronger.

Do you have an example of Lewis' fault (beyond all reasonable doubt) and where Whitmarsh has backed him to the 'hilt'? This is mostly your perspective, as all the incidents this year have been controversial. Controversial doesn't have to mean conclusive/agreeable. (key bit for you and the other haters)

Seriously Hammer, a fan of just McLaren has never had a problem.

A fan of Button has made accusations of favouritism
A fan of Hamilton has made accusations of favouritism

so end of the day unbiased views rule...

I dont believe there is favouritism in McLaren. I was suspicious of it back in Korea for a while...where Lewis was a moody b**tch all weekend but it lasted barely a race weekend. :D

This will put the cat amongst the pigeons; there was a rumour that McLaren deliberately sabotaged JB's KERS to slow him down to allow Hamilton to win...

Yes, it's ridiculous but that's no different to the talk in this thread about favouritism by Martin Whitmarsh at McLaren...

Andrew- I cant take your comments really seriously as you have a down on lewis and will come in on any arguement which downs him.

Bud and Myownalias- I respect your views but disagree with them. I'm not saying Whitmarsh does anything to help Jenson just that he cant contain his excitement over him. He wets his knickers when he does well and cant hide his disappointment if lewis beats him. Sorry but you wont change my opinion on this one, its clear cut.
And Bud and Andrew, Im not a fangirl. I accept Lewis has had a dog awful season and made some mistakes...thats why Jens looks so good.

Hammer-Im with you on this. Jens has had the season of his life, and Lewis one to forget in a hurry, and still theres not a deal between them, 3 wins each, a pole to Lewis but Jenson ahead. If Jens hadnt taken Lewis out and Lewis went on to win (he always goes well in Canada and was doing till the incident) it would be a hairs breadth the other way.

Lewis has had every problem under the sun, some of his own making. Jens has had less problems and not made mistakes. Yet still so close. Speaks for itself.

So that explains why Ron Dennis was hanging around! it all make perfect sense and must be a 100% irrefutable fact.:hehe:

Now to solve the Jack the Ripper muders. :detective:

You cheeky moderator you! :hehe:

Why is it when anyone says anything even slightly critical about Hamilton they are labelled a "hater" yet the same people act pretty much the same towards other drivers and start crying when they are called "haters" themselves?

FYI, I'm an F1 fan above team and driver preferences so even putting my dislike of Hamilton, Button and McLaren aside it is painfully obvious that Whitmarsh has performed very professionally and as he should do as a team principle, though no doubt if the driver positions were reveresed this discussion/thread would ,in all probibility, not exist.

Try watching the season again from an unbiased point of view and you'll see that the claims of McLaren/Whitmarsh favouritism are total and utter bovine manure.
