Kinda pointless now that the majority of people use/debit credit cards, 15 years ago this would have been a geat idea but now it has limited use, considering how much it would have cost to develop this new type of 'plastic' money/

I only use debit (with no overdraft), I have no interest in credit cards, we have enough debt with medical without adding more through loans and credit cards!

Wouldn't have cost a cent or a dollar to develop the technology has been there for years. I can't even remember exactly when Australian currency went plastic think it was early 90s.

End of the day physical cash still is needed even in a world of computerized debit.

Polymer technology has been around for a long time, but I talking about the counterfeiting technologies built into the polymer, there must be R&D and implementation costs!

Yes, I understand that, I usually keep a little cash for things like tolls, vending machines and stores in the sticks that don't take card, but 99% of purchases are on the card!

What I Meant was Canada wouldn't have had to spend money on R&D as all the counterfeiting technologies for plastic money are already out there, like I said the Australian notes have had this technology for some time. Each note has inbuilt small windows with texturized surfaces and put up to the light you can see images inside to make counter fitting even more difficult.

Maybe there was some intra Common Wealth collaboration?

A friend of mine is a sales director for the transparent security feature, a new thing in Malaysia which might take of in the next 1-2 years. Interesting.

So the costs in making money just got higher, ultimately lowering the value? :P
