Wasnt it because Pirelli tell the teams how much air to put in but Red Bull put less in? If thats what happened its not Pirelli's fault.

If this is the case then why didn't Webber have the same problem? This was mentioned during the BBC race commentary early on (before the fast forward button was deployed) and it turns out that all teams ignore the tyre pressure guidance from Pirelli so I sincerely doubt you've stumbled upon the cause of the tyre deflation.

Thing is no one actually knows what has happened, so any theories put forward by these papers are just as credible as any contravening theory at the mo. I wouldn't read into anything much until Pirelli (or Red Bull) say something. I stated my own theory a couple of pages back cause it seems the most logical thing to me but it's exactly that, a theory...

Who knows. If something is borderline it may or may not have the problem. Maybe it was because Vettel went over the curb with the low tyre while the car was heavy with petrol. All the teams may ignore Pirelli guidance, but since the problem occured with Red Bull, perhaps they ignore it more....push the limits more.

He almost had a second lead by turn two.

He had the best line from the start...had a good take off so didn't need to go defensive like Lewis and the rest so he appeared a head this way. But did we see the order from turn 2 stay that way the following laps? No!
I think it's a bit arrogant to say he would have skipped away to a win when there is no lap time to judge anything on.

There are too many possibilities and no tyre to look at. Needle in a haystack is an understatement. Seemingly things were going wrong through turn 1 and Vettel came close to loosing the car on the run to turn 2.

The best thing to do is to look forward to Brasil and another fantastic Vettel/Red Bull win. Perfect way to end a pretty good season.

The undercurrent in the motoring press commentary is that the cause of Vettel's puncture was something irregular with the RB7. Pirelli are saying it was not a structural failure, which fulfills their due diligence to the other teams. But since the entire tyre was not available for examination, that conclusion necessarily means they know the cause, else they could not have excluded possible structural failure. And not publicly announcing all that they have might have learned hints that doing so would violate their confidentiality agreement with RBR.

A whiff of smoke was evident on the start grid from the rear of Vettel's car, which Chris Horner attributes to a bit of bodywork having been overheated by the exhaust. I am shocked the press were not all over this statement because it positively begs the question, what else was being overheated? Horner denies their exhaust overheated the tyre's sidewall and maintains Vettel picked up a bit of leftover GP2 debris when exiting T1. Pirelli maintain there was no evidence of debris damage. I find it improbable in the extreme that some sliver of CF could have deflated Vettel's tyre so precipitously and not have left a signature.

Therefore, I must conclude the third shot came from the grassy knoll.

Ferrari's next innovation, install caltrops on Felipe's car. "Felipe baby, Hamilton is right behind you. Confirm that you understood this message".

Interesting post Fred! So could Red BUll have been using exhaust gasses to heat the tyres? Could this be how they get such a fast quali lap? Lewis hinted at something ususual about the Red Bull in Q3. Could it be they can turn this facility on and off when they want allowing them to get tyres up to temperature quickly? If this is the case something could have gone wrong with it on Sunday.

The ability of Vettel to win races this year has been in getting up front and out of the one second DRS zone by lap two or three, the difference between Vettel's RB and any other car in the first lap when he's ahead is staggering. Vettel was about6 car lengths ahead by turn two. So far ahead he wasn't even in the same camera shot.

Oh, BTW... I was meaning to ask but kept forgetting. What was up with the poppies pinned to the racing suits this weekend?

Remembrance day for Commonwealth nations.

F1 rarely goes this late into the year, so we never get to see Remembrance Day observed. Nice to see the poppies... without any fussing around like the situation in football.
