Just a quick thought that I don't think has been mentioned in the thread. A couple of questions have been asked, raising eyebrows about Kimi negotiating with Williams. These reasons seem to be based on two things:

1. That Kimi would have high wage demands.
2. That Williams aren't currently at the sharp end.

These are of course fair calls, but perhaps we are forgetting that Williams riased circa £50M earlier this year by floating shares in the company. That money wouldn't have had much effect on the competitiveness of this year's car, as the design and manufacturing would have been almost complete on that, however there's a very good chance that they will have been able to pump literally millions of pounds of that money into research and development for next year's car, and still potentially have millions left over to spend attracting a top level driver. Combine that with the other research facilities they've opened in the past year and Maldonado's money and there are some pretty hefty finances now in place.

So although I wouldn't expect Williams to be miraculously leading the field next year, there's a pretty strong case that could be made for them taking a substantial leap forward. If they have presented this in a positive way to Kimi, I could understand why he might be seriously considering the drive.

Kimi won't command a top shelf pricetag if he wants in badly enough. All other seats are taken, and barring Ferrari jettisoning Massa, there's a lot of potential to substantiate the rumors.

Maldonado money or not has been a flop.

Maldonado money or not has been a flop.

sadly, williams slide down the grid has meant that his money will keep him his spot. I read that Hulkenburg lost his seat cause he didnt have enough sponsor money with him. Williams, until they move back up the grid are now at the mercy of pay drivers.

Nailing kimi though, could bring them back up again.

Right, silly season it is then.

Auto Motor und Sport says Kimi has Qatari backing and wants a 20% stake in Williams. But Autosprint Italia says he is looking to move to Mercedes for 2013.

Part owner of one team, driving for another? That would be quite the feat, eh wot?

The latest though it's anyones guess how reliable the source is.

Raikkonen wants equity in Williams

This is clever... if Kimi is indeed pursuing this, its really interesting.
He already has team-owning experience (Raikkonen-Robertson), and definitely with the ammount of sponsors he has (thinking about his possible move to NASCAR), he's probably figuring... "heck! why not just buy a team" haha

I got bored a long time ago with this Kimi back to F1 crap. He doesn't seem to care much, I dont know why many others are trying to hype up all the rumours....jeez if he comes back, great, if he doesn't who cares...F1 is good enough!

This from a Kimi fan btw. But seriously, why bother if the guy doesn't.
