This has just occurred to me; won't aero play a lesser part in next years cars anyway with the banning of hot/cold blown diffusers, we know that Ferrari can compete when blown diffusers are outlawed (see Silverstone 2011), LDM has been complaining whenever Ferrari have been on the back foot, we didn't see anyone from Ferrari complaining when Ferrari/Schumacher domination!

"What is not so good is that 90% of performance is now based exclusively on aerodynamics and another negative is that ours is the only sport where no testing is allowed. We are building cars, not helicopters, rockets or planes. Sure, we must not go back to the excesses of a few years ago, but neither should we be in a position where we can't provide opportunities for the youngsters we are bringing on in the Ferrari Driver Academy."

Everyone is bitching, but Monty actually raises (or is that re-emphasises?) an extremely valid point here...

True but sadly most so-called F1 fans like to jump on the ever popular Ferrari bashing bandwagon. LDM could state a blatant fact like the earth is round and some F1 fans would still say he is speaking rubbish!

I've seen you jump on the Ferrari-bashing bandwagon a few times yourself, andrew. No team other than Red Bull escapes your raging wrath. And besides, no one here is denying he has made some good points, but there are other things that overshadow that in this case. Most F1 fans would have been able to see that, like most of us have, but some "so called" fans clearly can't...

A few valid points on this, would be welcome from any other team but ferrari... they've played the threat card too many times. And we all know they wouldn't say a thing if they had strong pace. This year FIA gave them silverstone, but they ask for a favour AGAIN!

Remember when they pushed the byrillium ban on Fia, which send McLaren behind on the grid :irked: . when they were dominating after that, no major rule changes made for long bit of time, giving them a few championships.

We have some good reasons to dislike FIArrari, :punch:

I am not a Ferrari fan, true, but despite that I have a lot of time for what LDM says. In fact the only 2 teams I dislike are Ferrari and McLaren so saying that I only support Red Bull is total bovine manure. I look at several F1 sites daily and, where Ferrari are concerned, some of the comments are getting more like the mentality of the football crowd.

Well I'll just point out here that you are the one that has said "F1 can live without Ferrari" and having football-crowd-like brawls with AKR, so just make sure you practice what you preach, before condemning other members for their comments.

Ferrari bring all this crap on themselves anyway. I'm sorry andrew, I hate arguing with you, as I have the utmost respect for you, but referring to folk as "jumping on the Ferrari-bashing bangwagon", which you ride yourself with a passion, and also deminishing us to "so-called" F1 fans is just going a tad too far. :nono:

It would never come to anything anyway. No way would Ferrari ever leave F1.

Since I accept that truth I have not problem with LDM or any other Ferrari bigwig mouthing off about the way the sport should go.

Some of what was being suggested had merit. Other parts of it was pure speculation.

People do get excited about Ferrari one way of t'other that is for sure.

Football style brawls to me are when each side either supports or hates a team/driver but can't explain why. I have reasons why I dislike Ferrari these days and have reasons why I may suport them again in the future but given their long term driver and team manager I am unlikely to change my opinion in the near future. I do not have blind hate for Ferrari - I have nothing but respect for their achievements and their length of service in F1 but find them impossible to support for various reasons.

It is true that Ferrari have brought a certain amount of crap on themselves but they are the team that quite a few folk love to hate. If you take the time to read what I wrote carefully, you'll see that I read comments on several F1 sites and have seen some really toxic stuff from people who claim to be F1 fans which is saddening. This place is ok, but sites like crash and planetF1 are rife with hate and unsubstantiated conspiracy theories which is painful to read. I don't claim to ride any bandwagon at all and keep an open mind but when Ferrari keep telling us that F1 wouldn't exist without them it is farcical - no team is bigger than F1!

Nice U-turn. But you had no right to get on your royal high horse earlier anyway, which is LewEng's point.

i actually agree that without Ferrari it wouldn't be the same, same goes for McLaren i reckon. However do hope they quit and start up a break away series

Talks of a breakaway series have only ever been mindless bibble-babble when the teams are feeling a little disgruntled. There has never been a realistic chance of a breakaway and never will be.

Yes but a break away series would be good. Getting away from Bernie and his greed. Classic tracks returning for their emotion and history not just for how much they pay. We can always hope i guess
#282894
Everyone hates Bernie for his greed. But he has a lot of activity going on in the background which has made F1 what it is today - the 2nd most watched sport in the World and pinnacle of motor racing.

He deserves his money, and if a little bit of bad comes with all the good....we shouldn't be complaining too much. What he's done still has me planning my weekends all around the compulsory 2 hours at home on a Saturday/Sunday.

No U-turn at all and no high horse to be seen anywhere matey boy. I am not a Ferrari fan, I don't believe that they or any team are bigger than F1 but I respect their achievements. I have always held this view with the exception that I was once a Ferrari fan. I stand by my comments that some people see Ferrari and jump instantly to the attack rather than reading what is said and think about it. Take a look at some other sites and you'll see what I mean. Ferrari are the team that people love to hate.
#282908
I dont really care if Ferrari are a team people love to hate or not, but the POINT here is no one said LDM was talking bullsh*t. Rather, cheesed off at his so called 'threats' and age old excuse about "My toy wont feature in this sport no more if you dont listen to my wants and needs". Him trying to get people to listen this way is not going to work, as it didn't before...and for a person of his stature and standards, well, lets say even the haters (admittedly I am one) expect more.

Comprende? :irked:
#282912
They're a huge team with a sizeable road car side to their company so it is little wonder that LDM wants to be able to have some sort of cross referencing between race car and road car development what with the RRA and Ferrari being used to chucking ridiculous amounts of cash at their F1 program for years.

If Mercedes, McLaren and Renault (being the other teams with road car programs) produced high-end sports cars in the same volume of Ferrari I suspect they would be wanting the same as Ferrari seeing as costs are supposedly restricted and it makes sense to be able to have a degree of correlation between the F1 and road car sides.

But, yes threatening to leave every 10 minutes does not help their cause one little bit as each time they don't follow through with the threat it becomes more laughable when they do threaten to leave. If they want to go, let them go but they won't - they need F1.
