IT would help to reduce costs in F1 and not result in overpaid drivers or smaller teams going bust every season or the need for constant buyouts and rebranding of teams. And hopefully can keep F1 different from A1 as someone mentioned in another topic about teams being run by national governments or something like that with the inclusion of Force India for example.

Budget caps are used in some English sports, well Rugby Union and Rugby League at least and are fairly sucessful, although that is open to an aweful lot of debate

Budget cap's are working just fine in the NBA and the NFL and I agree that for the smaller team's it will be a god send, dare I say open the possibility of entry to privateer team's once again. Although I do think that with the corporate ramification's and the limited number of grid spot's open it may still mean we will never again see another privateer team in F1 again.

Brawn has probably seen Honda's budget and compared it with that of Ferraris - any caps would only benefit the lower teams IMHO.

Honda may not have sponsors on their car but have gained more sponsors from 2006 when they had 12 major "partners", in 2007 they had 17
