Williams would a good fit for him. It shown in the past they don't need a PR perfect driver, they just want a quick, and motivated RACER.

I think that motivation is what was wrong with his demise at Ferrari. Time will tell if he has the lust back.

I totally agree with you about Ferrari.

I think the lack of politics at Williams, compared to politics that always surrounded Ferrari & McLaren may be a difference.

As you say, time will tell......

'Raikkonen has signed Williams deal'
Thursday 27th October 2011

'Raikkonen has signed Williams deal'
Kimi Raikkonen is, at least according to rumours in the Indian GP paddock, on his way to Williams next season, having signed a deal.

Ever since he walked away from F1 at the end of the 2009 season, parting ways with Ferrari and failing to secure a return to McLaren, rumours have persisted saying the Finn will return.

The latest, which emerged in the week before the Singapore GP, claimed that he is in talks with Williams regarding next season and even visited their factory in Grove.

However, at the time, his manager Steve Robertson downplayed the visit.

"At the end of the day people know Kimi visited Williams, but there's nothing more to say apart from that," he told GPUpdate.net. "There is nothing more to report."

But, according to PlanetF1's man on the ground in India, Chetan Narula, rumours in the paddock say not only is Raikkonen in talks with Williams but the Finn has in fact already signed a contract to race for them next season.

Seriously. With Williams? After all his "If I return, I wanna return for a competitive team because I only want to win races"...Williams? Unless he sees the year with Williams his bedding in time again in F1, and then look at Redbull when they tell Webber to piss off into retirement? Who knows.

Either way good luck Kimi. :wavey:

Does he sign a one year contract or a multiple year contract? Let's see.

If this story is true, then it's GOOD TIMES!!!

When this first surfaced, I simply assumed it was just another Raikkonen-based rumour... but things are actually looking up! 8-)

I cant see him signing a multi year with a midfield car. you never know... we may see him in a redbull or even back in a ferrari in 2013 being that the seats will be open. IMO

Kimi left Maclaren I thought because they weren't delivering him a competitive car, and that would make this move perplexing.
It is possible that Renault have told Williams they want Kimi. We don't know. They did that with Senna for 94 which prompted Prost to leave.
There may be things they know that we don't, such as perhaps Renault is poised to make Williams the "Renault team", withdrawing their own team. With the right plans and money, they can make Williams the top team again. This would attract Kimi for sure.

Thanks to this thread, I dreamt last night Kimi was back in Williams and the race at Silverstone (for some reason) was ON!!!

It was a great race....but I didn't get to see the finish. :crying:

I wanna stop reading rumours, and actually seeing a news report!!

Williams is a good team. Let's hope they can get themselves back on track. Perhaps Kimi realised F1 is a bit more than just winning. Otherwise... why would Barrichelo still be on F1? hehe

I'm also wondering if this is the case, although I had thought that it was going to be Red Bull, in all honesty. It would be nice to see an engine manufacturer behind Williams again, I only hope that this time it works out better than it did with BMW.

He'd never go back to Ferrari, they ditched him remember... I'm not sure he'd want to go back there!
