Then I whole-heartedly apologise, sometimes on this forum it's like you're in the trenches, especially from my side of the fence.

Sorry mate.

Appreciated. Tis the season of goodwill.

We must agree to disagree on the subject of the 'apology'. I still am of the opinion that the FIAs decision to halt investigation of the 08 car is fully related to it.

I agree with you there. I know what you're getting at, you're saying Ron fell on his sword for the good of his team, my only problem with that is Ron Dennis isn't the type of character to do that.

As I recall, Martin Whitmarsh issued the statement not Ron. Nevertheless it came from McLaren so therefore RD as well. The timings of the various statements cannot possibly be coincidental.

It seems to me sort of a plea bargain. As in, we'll say this, you say that, call it quits. The FIA needs to demonstrate it's not pitted against McLaren and they know it. They obviously have got together behind the scenes and hammered it out for the good of the sport.

Ultimately the FIA get themselves off the hook in terms of the worldwide perception they have it in for McLaren, and McLaren get the 08 car passed and accept what happened in 07 was bad.

No one I know of would claim 07 was stellar year for the McLaren team, but you must realise - every team could be put in the position McLaren were this year oh so easily - and that includes Ferrari. As much as you would like to believe your team would handle it better (and they might) nothing is written in stone.

I truly believe RD is a man of integrity and honour - and if by chance you were on this side of the fence, I'm sure you would think the same. What you and I don't know of course is whether RD was misled by other members of the team. I believe he was and has had to pay the price for that.

Anyways, I'm off now - so Merry Christmas and let's look forward to 08.

haha demure there are other ways to insult people than just name calling..
I wouldn't expect anything less from Mclaren's fans either.

demure 200 emmployees forced to lie thats Todts dirty statment... but youre using it as fact!

hey you seem to accept the "establishment" for all its worth.. kudos to you.
and your understanding of the apology is humorous at best take off your red glasses and you might be able to read between the lines and understand the world of F1 much much better.

but then that side of things is just the biased British view huh, so maybe you keep those red glasses on and stick with the bias Italian view you seem to love so much

It's natural for you to be philosophical in times of crisis. I would be.

Merry Christmas Spud!

times of crisis, theres no crisis in my life mate ;) so you can keep your philisophical blabble to yourself!

and there you go again calling me spud  F1tastic is right ;) ever think youre the instigator huh huh ;)

Ron Dennis is just a bitter old man who has lost a combine 3 world championships from his drivers credentials in 2 years and has nothing but an ego maniacal celebrity 'runner-up' left to try to win it for him...oh well hope that pit row looks good from the end short one garage space

What's Ron Dennis got to be bitter about. He's the most successful team boss in Formula One history, running an infamous team/corporation and is roling in cash. The only bitter one is Mad Max who, despite his aristocratic upbringing, simply couldn't cut it.

No the Ferrari fans don't get personal, it's usually the McLaren fans spewing vile from their mouths, but we understand they are just frustrated by their own team. Nobody likes to hear the team boss forced 200 employees to lie to the FIA with the signature fiasco.

*Don't know where I saw what I am about to say so if it is from here then apologies in advance*

The 200 employees that singed that stated that they did not knowingly use Ferrari data, at that time that may have been true, they may have used it without knowing it belonged to Ferrari

Just another point to consider

2008 shpuld be interesting that is for sure.

That's a moot point in my opinion. By the time they signed this piece of paper, the gist of the affair was all out in the open and they should have thought twice (or trice or whatever) before they signed something like this BECAUSE they couldn't be sure it wasn't Ferrari data they were looking at. So, when they signed, they took that gamble and it didn't pay...

I agree DD as 'the cat was already out of the bag' so to speak when they signed the document.
