Fair point, although Irvine was hardly any better than Rubens. They were both flattened by Schumacher at Ferrari, so neither can classify themselves as being amongst the elite.

Who was it that thought driver 1A and driver 1B meant they were on equal terms with Michael Schumacher and fell for Ferrari saying they have no number 1 or number 2 drivers?

I prefer Irvine to Rubens anyday in F1...Irvine is at least fun when not racing. Rubens is known very well as the Moaner, and he's moaned one too many times during his years at Ferrari. No.2 is No.2. No one forced him to sign the contract.

And now his "Williams needs me more than I need them" is just sad...really should bugger off already.

Trying too hard to justify his place in a team through words and not through his on track performance. At least Irvine knew when to call it a day.

Seems to be a decision he now regrets. You can tell he wishes he was still racing, what with all the condescending, arrogant, bitter, resentful and childish remarks he makes about everything currently going on in F1. The guy needs to grow a pair and start saying it to these guys faces, rather than through the media.

Irvine was always mediocre but he could talk a good story. Touch of the Blarney in him.
