Maybe if you provided some facts to back up your theory rather than just assumptions your theory may be plausible.

To be honest, I've never seen your arguments do better than his.

Sorry to say, it's classic conspiracy theory nonsense. There's always got to be a "bigger" reason for weird stuff that happens, so people want to invent complicated situations to help explain stuff they don't have all the facts for.

Relationship is one word. If he has a relation ship with his drivers, it is a boat in which he has gay umpalumpa with his drivers.
Anyway, I can retell what David Coulthard said in his book, It is What it is.
DC knew he was Ron's #2. When he was first hired, he was in a room with Mika, and Ron entered and DC stood up and extended his hand to Ron. Ron completely ignored DC as if he weren't there, and went straight to speak with Mika.

As we know, an F1 team has 2 separate race teams that compete against each other. Ron was an ardent supporter of Mika's team, and considered DC's team the opposition. In DC's presence, Ron would reguarly refer to the two teams as "us" and "them".

Ron would strategically lie to DC if it would help the team in the long run. He would usually admit it afterward. He felt it ws just a part of competing. He never did it to Mika.

But DC never mentioned any time in his book that he was ever asked to move over. The drivers usually had agreements that the one who got through turn one first would be the one the other moves over for. I remenmber seeing this happen a couple of times between them. It was always Mika who had the honours. Once Mika went into the pit by mistake and just drove through. DC moved over for him but it was not a team order, just that first turn agreement.

I dont think this is really about the thread title but didnt know where to put it since Jenson Button hasnt got his own thread. Spose it does sort of fit here.

Ive heard this argument about McLaren favouring Mika over DC many times. But at Spa 1999 when Mika was in a tight WDC fight with Eddie Irvine (who incidentally was getting teammates to move over left right and centre to help his chances) and DC was nowhere, McLaren allowed DC to put the make on Mika at the first corner and then let him scurry off and win the race - even though it made the subsequent fight for the championship very much harder for Mika. In fact I feel this indirectly contributed to his rather unusual pressured error that caused his retirement from the lead of the next race at Monza.

So so much for Mika being the golden child at McLaren is all I can say.

Or I could just add a few words to my post and make it fit right nicely in this thread

Some fodder for racechick (expanding from MW to BE):

ESPNF1 (interview with the Guardian):
[...]
"I think he [LH] had some personal problems during the year which affected him quite a lot," Ecclestone added. "A lot to do with these things, it depends an awful lot on the people you surround yourself with, and who are in a position to influence you. I think he just fell into a lot of people that I think weren't good for him. When his dad was looking after him, his dad was a bit more … obviously it didn't suit Lewis, which was why they split, I think he didn't appreciate how much help his dad was."

Earlier this year Ecclestone was reportedly unhappy about a video that appeared on YouTube in which McLaren guest Ice-T walked around one of the team's cars making lewd comments.

"It's our fault, because we tend to encourage celebrities," Ecclestone said. "It's good. Not so much for those of us who get our hands dirty but for all the sponsors who turn up with their guests and like to say: 'Oh, we saw whoever-it-was.' They forget they've come to watch Formula One. The difference is that we can handle them, because we're not directly involved. He [Hamilton] sees somebody like that, he admires the guy, so he'll start copying a little bit what they're up to."

But Ecclestone has been impressed with how Hamilton's team-mate Jenson Button has conducted himself this year.

"I'm very happy with Button this year," he said. "He's done a really good job and he's been much better as a person with the public than he was when he was the world champion [in 2009], which is good, because he's a nice guy."

Yes I read that. Seems Ecclestone cant help himself from jumping on the 'lets all guess what's up with Lewis' bandwagon. Theres nothing new here, its old news, just Bernie putting his penn'th in for what its worth. I've filed it along with his overtaking lane, false rain, medal scheme etc, in a drawer marked garbage. The only one who really knows what problems Lewis hamilton had last year is Lewis hamilton. He's said its private and he's said he was very upset at the loss of two close friends. I'll take his word on it.

(out of interest, what's it got to do witrh Whitmarsh and his antics?)
