I think massa was stretching the truth all these months when people asked if his injury in 2009 affects his race craft. it is hard to tell though. (this is why I would love to see three car teams) So we could see massa, a decent driver all around, get a seat at say a fair team, like Red Bull or Mclaren.

Did you notice how hard was Vettel on the gas pedal on the start of the warm-up lap? I think that might be a solution to his good start, considering that McLaren cars were on the clean side, and have stronger KERS and engine. He also took a different line through the turn 1, which gave him a great chance to attack Hamilton. He also saved much of his KERS for the back straight. Awesome job.

Clean dirty, didn't seem to matter at this track. Everyone on the dirty side got a good of a take off as the clean side, The track still is pretty green. its funny it never gets used through out the year other than for F1. What a waste, just for Bernie's cash.

I thought I heard them mention that there are other circuits of the track intended for non-F1 racing. They just haven't used them yet.

Yeah there is the support pit area that is available but there's no support races.
Go figure.

I know Korea is an emerging manufacturing nation but whats the point of this race? c'mon give the fans at the track some excitement atleast get some local racing, or racing from Japan in as support classes to keep the fans at the track happy. Attendance might rise?

I think the issue is there aren't any fans at the track to begin with since it's for far away from any populated areas.

True but most tracks in Europe aren't exactly on the capital cities doorsteps. But yeah maybe a street circuit in Seoul if you wanted to promote F1 to a new nation. Put it in their face so they are forced to attend check out the loud cars driving around. :hehe:

Yes it's never great seeing these empty grandstands at the races in Asia. There were a fair few at Korea this time round.

Am I correct in assuming that Singapore and Japan are the only well-attended Asian races?

Japan is always well attended as F1 is well established there. Singapore has the touch of the Monaco specticle about it but it remains to be seen if the novelty ever wears off.

Korea is still a new race plus there is not local interest. Stick a Korean driver in F1 and the interest will spread. I read earlier that Hyundai may be interested in F1 so this may help increase spectators however it is very very early days on this.

I doubt it. There's no denying the venue is highly unique, and the racing is good (for a street circuit).

What are the numbers for Malaysia?

Erm, thinking about it, I don't think attendance is bad there either. I'll have to dig around and see if I can find some figures.

It's not something one thinks about until you see tons of empty grandstands and it suddenly "hits" you. Turkey and Korea are the standouts so far this year.
#280438
:banghead: But people should go to Turkey its good! And you get to see Istanbul! Best city in the world.
#280457
If you pay for me to get there and get into the race I'll go.

There wasn't enough local interest in the Turkish GP to make it viable so no amount of drunken British tourists is going to keep a track of questionable quality on the calander.
