At least he doesn't add letters like Daryl Waltrip did covering the Bathurst 1000 yesterday. Every time he talked about the Vodafone Holdens he pronounced it Vondafone. He added the n everytime. Now that was anoying.

I've had 28 years of people pronouncing and spelling my surname incorrectly and I'll probably have at least another 28 years of it. That's worth getting steamed about.

I hear that!! My surname is of Wendish origin from Germany... hell I don't even pronounce it right just for my English speaking country folk! :hehe:

I hear DC pronouncing Vettel and don't see anything wrong with it.

God knows the number of times people have mispronounced DCs name! Culthard. Coolthard. Coolhard. Coo.....David is in the pits!!

That might be why he does not see any problem with miss-pronouncing names. Sure I spelt wikkipedia wrong but then I am not a professional copy writer being paid a large sum of money to get it right. That's what gets me, cannot even be bothered to do his job as best he can and correct such a simple little error which he is going to be making for the next 10 or 15 years. Probably more than 100,000 times.

Or maybe you're just being too fussy.

I'd be chuffed to have him as a commentator, him and Brundle compared to the rubbish I have now at Star Sports. Seriously, the streaming feed I get online sucks bigtime...its nowhere as clear or smooth as cable but I still stick with it thanks to the commentating. The Star Sports group is an embarrassment, except this guy called Matthew Marsh but he's not in the commentary box.

DC used to complain all the time about people getting his name wrong
Brundell must have pointed out his mistake at every race now it's almost as guaranteed
as DC crashing out :)

Coulthard's not a profesional copywriter either, he's a commentator and pundit.

I think yuo need to lighten up a bit.

I'm going to write Vettel and VetTEL from now on.

Hammer you are right its great having two racing drivers commentating and they work well together. Andrew surely you are not going to drive me crazy as well with your vetTELs? Thing is though David is being paid a professional fee for commentating so he is a pro and part of a commentators job is to get the names right. But it seems I won't get any support from this forum just have to complain to the BBC (who pay his salary)

Coulthard is a multi millionaire he can spend a couple of hundred for a speach theropist to get the world champions name right. I am not going to be able to handle him saying vetTEL for the next 10 years. Anyone know how to contact him and tell him how irritating it is? I see he is not on Twitter

You need to get out more if this causes you to be unable to function with life.

Ok I have tweeted Martin Brundle about this and will continue to hassle Coulthard until he makes the tiny effort needed to pronouce Vettel correctly.

Vac, I think you missed my post, you pronounce Vettel wrong! It's not Vet its Fet, Sebastian Vettel (German pronunciation: zeˈbasti̯an ˈfɛtəl) Vettel is the correct pronunciation.

So really you're a hypocrit lay off DC

Funniest thing I've read on here for a while!!! Brundle will be reading through his Twitter messages, answering technical queries, giving his opinion on qualifying and the prospects for the race and answering some meaty queries. Then he gets to once asking him if he can ask Coulthard to change how he says something! :rotfl:

And Andrew you can do what you like, I can't hear you and really doubt you will ever be a BBC F1 commentator

I cares not a jot.

If Coulthard wants to say VetTEL so what? It doesn't hurt anyone. Live and let live is what I says.
