- 16 Oct 11, 18:40#280096Anytime the name Alonso comes up on this forum, some people (including some of the mods) bring up old S**t from the 2007 season. You would think that after 4 years, they would have moved on but no they still need to dwell on old stories because they have nothing new to bash Alonso with.
People can say whatever they want about him from 2007, but I look at Alonso of the past 2 years. In 2010, when everyone thought it was over for him by mid-season, he came back and took the lead and finished in 2nd spot at the end in what was considered the 3rd best team on the grid. The same thing is happening this year to. He is in the 3rd best team but yet he is ahead of Webber and Hamilton. Had Alonso been at RB or McL, I would believe he would still be challenging Vettel for the WDC.
So for all there is to say, for most of the time Alonso has kept his head down and out of controversy and went on doing what he does best: racing. It seems that some people can't see that or they choose not to see it because that means giving him credit.
Also, to those (including couple of the mods) who keep bringing up the fact that he was beat by a rookie in 2007 and keep saying he is better than Alonso, I have a question to them. How has your rookie been doing in the past couple of seasons? He sits in a superior car and yet he finishes behind Alonso! He is always involved in some kind of controversy, getting in trouble with the stewards and acting mean towards his team as it was obvious this weekend when Hamilton claimed "he is not the team." Is Hamilton hinting at preferential treatment at McL? Is Button the favorite one at McL? Does that mean that McL has a #1 policy? If that is what Hamilton is talking about, than we can assume that preferential treatment was well in place in 2007 at McL. I leave at that...
