I just can't see myself changing teams...When I pick a team, I usually stick with them whoever the players(for regular sports) or drivers(for motorsports) are...

The beauty w/ F1 is, I have two choices when it comes to the driver that I want to support since each team has 2 cars...If Button leaves mclaren, I won't support him anymore. I will then need to decide who between lewis and button's replacement I wanna support..

But see, I supported Hamilton based on nothing going into my first season as a fan.

I was new, and Hamilton was new - so I thought he would be a good driver to back going into my first season following F1 in '07- as we were both starting fresh. I only watched half a race that whole year (Monaco before I fell asleep). From the moment I started properly following the sport - Vettel's amazing points finishes got my attention.

And then the win, it all culminated with Brazil '08. So I concluded from my first season in F1 that Vettel was a better driver than Hamilton.

Now I cannot imagine throwing my support behind any other driver than Vettel - however, should another up-and-coming be more promising than Vettel, I will re-assess. But it's not only Vettel's driving - it's his whole personality etc. etc. I cannot imagine becoming a Vettel-hater as I have become of Hamilton.

But see - my hate for Hamilton doesn't stop here. I used to hate Button and Alonso. Now I'm a closet Button fan with a lot of respect for Alonso.

I don't see anything wrong with changing teams - just like Kimi Raikkonen doesn't either. :P

Unfortunately not much more to talk about the race - but from the sounds of things, and unlikely Button and Vettel rivalry is brewing - and, while I still want Vettel to win the next 10 WDC's, I'd be happy to see Button taking wins from him next year - if it's a good fair fight and Vettel is ultimately on top and the final race of the year.

I think Button seems to have showcased himself very well this race, and ultimatel - this entire year.

But I think it was cute his banter in the post race conference, because it seemed to show to me that he was jealous. He won the race, so surely most of the questions should have been directed at him - right?

I go for drivers rather than teams and its more emotional than considered. I just find a connection to certain ones. With Lewis it started way before he was in F1 and despite this troubled year for me, he's still the best most exciting driver out there. If he changed teams Im afraid Id go with him.
There are other drivers I like to do well, but not on the level I support Lewis.
Other drivers i like are Senna, Kobi, Petrov, Di Resta, Suthil. Bit of a Force India and Renault thing going on there isnt there :P
Quite like Rosberg too.

Phew! :P

Mercedes are pretenders at the moment. He is better off staying at McLaren if he wants to win. But if he left I would still follow him, Mercedes I like, but id rather he went to RedBull.

I remember you once didn't like Petrov.

I think your comment was he was too sweaty or something. Maybe I was dreaming - so I was surprised when you started saying you liked him this year.

But see - I like him also - particularly for helping Seb win the title last year!:drink:

Not sure whether you're being sarcastic here or not. Of course I wasn't a dedicated fan in 07. I only became a dedicated fan after Monaco '08. And after watching a few races, I became a dedicated fan of Vettel's.

For me to firmly decide on supporting Hamilton based on nothing would be wrong. As the season unfolded, I realised this and supported the driver who I really thought had the goods. So if your encouraging me for making this wise decision... Thanks. :-)

If you are criticising me for it - I don't understand why. I've obviously proven that I'm no blind Vettel lamb. He earned my respect. I acknowledged his flaws last year, but he was still bloody fast in qualifying, and basically was in the lead every race but for some really bad luck with technical issues.

Warning - the rest of this post contains some strongly worded opinion about Hamilton. I respect all my forum members so it is not designed to cause offence, but this a forum where we place our opinions. I hope racechick and hammer don't take it heart. :)

In Monza last year, Vettel came back to grid and also finished 4th at Monza from memory, driving a calm and collected race in a bid to stop the "Crash Kid" title getting to him. Then he responded by 2nd in Singapore, winning in Japan, almost-winning in Korea, and then winning the final 2.

Hamilton similarly arrived at Monza this year as a Crash Kid, and drove a calm and collected race to finish 4th. But did he learn?

That just shows the differences in character between the two drivers in my opinion. In fact after Singapore I still said that I believed in Hamilton.

But unfortunately after Japan - based on Hamilton's performances (racing incident or not) he finished 5th again, showed his arrogance, and not only finished behind Button in qualifying, but also well behind him in the race.

Hence, based on Suzuka all respect I've had for Hamilton is now gone. It might come back again - like my respect for Alonso, but for now it is gone, and I want Hamilton to get a 3-race ban.

I don't think anyone would support me here, but what happened in qualifying on Saturday- seriously? He needs to go on a fishing trip, similar to some of our forum members, and get his head in a nice place.

And perhaps he would come back like FRAFPDD promising to be nice to everyone and tell everyone how he's a changed man, only to realise he can't help himself and he's back doing it a few weeks later. Then he gets banned for life, and get's locked up in DD's Dungeon, which will have a prophetic fullfillment in Hamilton being locked up in Jean Todt's dungeon.... and ok, I'll take my meds now. :hehe:

its ok Azza for a guy that changes allegiances willy nilly doesn't really earn much respect from his peers either :whip:

Only once - but yeah - we're just aquaintances who are having some friendly banter about a sport, which is ultimately not the end of the world. And I'm sure we will see eye-to-eye over a beer on at least a couple of things.

:beer::cloggynmarki:

Speaking of which, I could be going to Adelaide soon for some work. :wavey:

Sorry Azza, I didnt read your whole post....as you're the guy who actually likes qualifying more than the race. :hehe:

I read the small font though....Fraffy is banned permanently?? :yikes:

Damn...I'm always last to know things around here. :crying:
