I think a burst of laughter would be out of character for a guy like Alonso....

True, unless he were watching Schindlers list or something.

I'm sure he's had a few chuckles this season.

I hear that he's happiest when he's playing with the photocopier and scanner (the one at McLaren was his favourite) but keep it quiet, it's a secret.

a little idea i had with Sebs name signifying back to back titles

That's pretty cool.

Anyone seen the stewards reports on the two investigated incidents?

Having viewed the video evidence in relation to the action of the driver of Car 1 off the start, and having
noted that Car 1 Sebastian Vettel and Car 3 Lewis Hamilton both followed similar lines off the start the
Stewards decide to take no further action.

Having viewed the video evidence in relation to the action of the driver of Car 3 at Turn 16 and after
comparing the line that Lewis Hamilton took on the previous lap, and having noted that Car 6 Felipe
Massa was attempting to overtake on the left into a right hand corner the Stewards decide to take no
further action.

They should have Alan Jones on at every race. What a refreshing change!!

Yep. I can't fault Alan Jones' decisions today.

Just moving away from the action at the front, I thought it worth pointing out that Team Lotus did a sterling job today. The safety car helped them of course, but nevertheless, they both finished on the lead lap, while both Virgins and HRTs had been lapped...twice... Heikki Kovalainen finished only 13 seconds behind the Williams of Rubens Barrichello, and just 87.8 seconds off winner Jenson Button.

Good stuff there.

Once again, extremely high rate of mechanical reliability. The only retirement was that of Sebastian Buemi, who had a wheel issue.

The stewards in Japan are good most years...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the driver representative just one of many stewards in each race? I'm sure they only mention the driver stewards by name on broadcast because people will recognize the names. Point being, I think you guys may be attributing the stewards' decisions in races too much to the driver representative.

Anyway, good race, but I was bummed for Kamui and Di Resta finishing out of points.

The stewards' report on the FIA website explained the decision not to punish either driver: "Having viewed the video evidence in relation to the action of the driver of car three at turn 16 and after comparing the line that Lewis Hamilton took on the previous lap, and having noted that car six Felipe Massa was attempting to overtake on the left into a right hand corner the stewards decide to take no further action."

The wording sounds like Alan Jones to me. He used to commentate F1 down here when it was on channel 9. He is critical of over policing.

[f1ea]

so its all over??

was left expecting a penalty, something for vettel... guess the stewards wanted it over.

But Jenson had a great race, his really come to terms with the car and his driving.

Great races this season. Red bull was just too good and Vettel simply perfect...

[acosmichippo]

hopefully this race (and qualifying) at least bode well for a competitive final 4 races in 2011 and beginning of 2012.

[racechick]

Qualifying's crap.

[acosmichippo]

What I meant was McLaren were clearly on par (or better than) Red Bull pace all wekend, and even in qualifying where they haven't been all year.

Good bit of banter there.

Poor old Alonso doesn't get to join in. He's just there bing deadly serious.

Yeah, he doesn't seem to have much of a sense of humor, does he?

[racechick]

Yes. The cars are closer thats true. Too little too late though. I dont feel any excitement about the coming races. I wont go out of my way to watch them.

You and me both sister.

I already made plans for next weekend, without knowing when the race timings are on. If I'm home, I watch.
