Can someone please somehow get Coulthard to pronounce Vettel's name correctly I cannot listen to to him saying vetTEL for the next 10 years, Brundle VETtel, Coulthard vetTEL surely, surely if Coulthard wants to be an announcer he can learn to pronounce the name of a driver who looks to go down in history properly. Let him hire a speach theropist or something or if that costs too much, just have him say kettle, vettle, kettle, vettle for the next two days. It is drivng me crazy and I flinch everytime Coulthard starts talking about vetTEL.

I isn't just DC who pronounces the name like that, there's been tonnes of folk who've done it. As a result, I always pronounced his name as VetTEL until Martin Brundle pointed out to DC that Fettle is the correct pronunciation.

But when one forms a habit, it takes work to alter it! :hehe:

Coulthard is a multi millionaire he can spend a couple of hundred for a speach theropist to get the world champions name right. I am not going to be able to handle him saying vetTEL for the next 10 years. Anyone know how to contact him and tell him how irritating it is? I see he is not on Twitter

Martin Brundle and Jake Humphrey are on twitter. Ask them to tell him (again). :hehe:

There are infact a number of drivers who STILL pronounce Rubens Barrichello's name wrong.

I even remember Jenson Button acting as commentator for the 2005 Monaco Grand Prix (BAR had been thrown out for a few races) and he pronounced Raikkonen as RACK-ONAN all the time. I've always otherwise heard it pronounced as RAI-KONNEN, as the spelling sort of suggests.

I guess its getting to me because Coulthard and Brundle commentate together so you get this Vettle VetTEL Vettle VetTEL all the time, I can't help feeling is Coulthard dyslexic or something? He is a BBC commentator he should be able to pronounce a world champian's name properly. How can he sit there and listen to Brundle saying it and just carry on saying vetTEL? He must be needing a spare part.

Actually dyslexia is best described as word and/or number blindness. It would not affect how someone pronounces something from hearing it. Anyway, the correct way to pronounce Vettel with a Scottish central belt accent is VetTEL.

I've had 28 years of people pronouncing and spelling my surname incorrectly and I'll probably have at least another 28 years of it. That's worth getting steamed about.

I dare say there are ways that you pronounce words that get up others noses. Live and let live is what I say.

Besides, it's not like everyone pronounces DC's name right, anyways.

According to Wikkipedia

"There are three proposed cognitive subtypes of dyslexia: auditory, visual and attentional" Maybe he just likes winding everybody up.

It's spelt Wikipedia. Putting 2 K's in the middle really annoys me.

When it says auditory that is in terms of auditory short term memory i.e. someone explains something to you and you don't really understand it as you have difficulty taking it in at the 1st listen or you forget.

Either way, I'm pretty sure that Coulthard is not dyslexic, but even if he was does it matter? No, not in the slightest!

Just accept that he pronounces it VetTEL and we'll accept that you spell Wikipedia with 2 k's.
