Just think about how often in a race the tv feed will quickly go to a shot of one of the midfield or backmarkers coming into the pits with wing damage or some other sort of damage. I always wonder, "how did that happen?" but it's something that wasn't picked up on camera and the stewards don't look into it. IMO each race should be viewed completely seperate from what has happened in the past. Drivers past infractions should never be taken into account when making a decision during a race. Stewards should be objective in their review of incidents during a race. The one major step that the FIA needs to take reguarding the stewards is to have a permanent, professional team who attend every race and who have pledged to be objective. These people should have no past affiliation with any team and be well versed in the rules of the sport.

There's some hardcore and knowledgeable F1 fans who would do that job exceptionally well.

I like the idea of a former racer on the panel, as it gives the panel an insight into what it's really like, thus hopefully making incidents easier to diagnose. However, constant changing and passing-round of this position still brings inconsistencies, which the fans don't like.

Maybe have a select bunch of former racers who attend every race. And old enough not to have grudges against anyone driving today.

Agree. It's easy to take the view "he's done it before therefore he must be to blame again".

I too like the idea of having the former racers. But like you said they have to be objective, taking past experiences and emotion out of thier decisions.

I love Buttons new aggressive style, this second year the race spirit of McLaren has transformed him to a speed monster!



I remember many of you were betting that there is no chance of Button finishing the season ahead of Hamilton.... But now this seems pretty possible! Button outperfoming Hamilton?

Can Hamilton return to the state of mind he had 2 or 3 years ago?

the japan gp will be epic if we see them fighting each other for the win!

I just saw some photos, most of them are with Maldonado and Barrichello flying all over the track...

It's good that Vettel made a mistake today. That means he'll be uber concentrated for the qualis and the race (like in Turkey). Button is just showing how good he is. Don't forget, he's also a WDC.

Buttons had a brilliant year. Hamilton has had a nightmare. Yet still he only leads by 17points. he was lucky not to get a penaly in Canada and lewis was unlucky that he was taken out. That aside, its still only 17points.
He's still done a stirling job, no doubt about that.
