Ok - I'll ask my first easy question - seeing as I have not been able to answer any questions earlier as I'm not to good with the pointless statistics from decades before I was born.

Anyway I came across this stat when I was browsing around.

Who am I? I failed to qualify for 11 consecutive Grands Prix before notching up my first ever podium finish in my very next race? :wavey:

Name the Grand Prix in which this phenomenon occurred.

Does the question make sense? Are you guys going to answer it in like 30 seconds?

I have a feeling this must be Roberto Moreno who in 1990 struggled terribly in the first 14 races with the EuroBrun. Then on the sad career ending accident for Alessandro Nannini Moreno stepped in for the Japanese Grand Prix and came second as part of a Brazillian Benetton 1-2 behind Nelson Piquet.

The late Manfred Winkelhock could bring some very useful expertise into his life as professional driver notably in Formula 1. What was it and when did it come in handy?

Team, car and year please.

Winkelhock's expertise was in auto electronics. Credited with sorting out problems with the BMW lump in the ATS D6 in 1983.

Smokin has it in one!

Manfred Winkelhocks profession was as a car electrics technician. He actually built up his DTM junior "Works"car himself. His skills came in handy in Formula 1 at ATS in 1983 when ATS got hold of M-power Turbos but nobody in the team had a clue about electrics and electronics when ATS went to the preseason tests in South America. Manfred doubled up as technician and traced the failed electrical connections so they could get the car to turn a wheel..

The ATS D6, designed by Gustav Brunner, was a famous milestone in Formula 1 as it had no separate bodywork covering the monocoque. It scored no points however it set the trend for almost all modern monocoque racecars.

Given past history I say this with trepidation, but here's an easy one.

Excluding Kubica, how many drivers in last year's final top ten have not finished a race in the place they occupied in the 2010 WDC results and who are they?
