I am weird as I am a Ferrari fan whilst also being a Jensen Button Fan, although I do like McLaren to do well as I was an Aryton Senna fan too.

All you need to do is to add Seb to the drivers you like and you've won just about every race this century

I am no glory seeker, I liked Aryton from the start of his career when he came second in 1984 Monaco I knew he was something special.

Its all about cans, Not cars.

Yeah ask everyone at red bull racing if its only about the drink.

Ferrari is in F1, to promote their road cars, McLaren is also in F1 for their car business, and Mercedes, and Reanult... it's an extremely expensive sport and there is a not a great deal of ROI, on top of which, the more successful you are in the sport, the more money the sport costs you, you have to spend exponentially more for increasingly smaller gains, salaries for all staff (including drivers) goes up and there is a finite number when the market you're after is saturated.

Red Bull racing, is a racing team and there's no doubt about that, but ultimately it's not the racing team's profit that's keeping the lights on, it's selling drinks.

How much money comes from mclaren vs vodaphone? I'm curious.

It's more along the lines of, when was the last time you saw a TV ad for McLaren or Ferrari, versus when you saw a TV ad for Red Bull. Racing is Ferrari's advertising budget. Red Bull racing like all other teams doesn't just rely on their owner's money for advertising. Let's put it this way, if we had to strip away all logos from an F1 vehicle, how many and which teams would remain in the sport?

90% of Ferraris budget comes from (illegally I might add) marlboro still doesn't change the facts Ferrari exist to race and sell cars. RedBull exist to sell drinks!

...RedBull exist to sell drinks!

No, Red Bull exists to make money for Dietrich Mateschitz. Last year he pocketed £2.8 million (pre-tax) from the racing team exclusive of the drinks company.

Ignorance is bliss, he wouldn't have a race team if he didn't discover RedBull on a trip to Thailand all those years ago and start selling it back in Euroland!

But given F1 teams expenditures being in the red, and Claims of RedBull breaking spending limits have you got the evidence to back up your claim?

Which is about as much as he'd find under the seat cushions at his home when compared to the earnings they make from selling pop, 3.9 billion cans of the stuff were sold in 2009.

It's perfectly legal. The rules forbid advertising, not sponsorship.

Redbull is not first and foremost a racing company. BUT...

Racing and sports is heavily included in the company's advertising strategy (just like every other team on the grid). I would say that Red Bull is the LEADER in racing if you look at motor racing over all. They run cars in almost every series. As someone mentioned, they even sponsor an entire air racing series. Not to mention all the other X-Sports that they are included with.

To say they are only a drink company is a little disingenuous, since all the teams are on the grid to sell you (the spectators) to some advertising team (both their own and sponsored).

Like Google are primarily a company that sells Internet ads, yet we know that they are much much more than that.

I remember watching a long video on Youtube about them trying to go to the moon and set up a new means data transmission.

They also have Android, which is making big ground in the mobile phone market. We almost see Android, the new Google OS, Google Open Software, and Google Internet ads as all separate entities. We don't say anymore that Google just solely exist for internet ads anymore.

Same with Red Bull. It's almost like their racing division is separate to the Energy Drinks division. Mateschitz was making a lot of money and wanted to spend it on something worthwhile, so he's used it to support one of his passions - extreme sports. And he is all about trying to find the next up and coming super-star.

You can't blame him for sticking the Red Bull logo onto his car - it ultimately makes him even more money! :cloud9:

But I think ultimately the Racing Team is separate to the Energy Drinks entity.

Bud...when you take into context that Disney is heavily involved in the *censored* industry, and make cartoons and movies for kids....Redbull selling their drinks through F1 isn't much of a biggie. :D

BTW I have a confession to make to my fellow Red Bull supporters: :wavey:

Yesterday for the first time in over a year I succumbed to temptation. Please forgive me - I was weak. :crying:

Unfortunately, I was in desperate need for an energy kick - I walked into the shop, reached past the Red Bull and bought a can of Monster Energy. :(

In the past I have always bought Red Bull thinking that it somehow helps pay for Vettel's wages, but unfortunately... well I was weak.

I hope you all can forgive me, and I'll have twice as much today to make up for it.

It's that evil Schumacher in my signature. He made me do it! I must quickly remove him from my signature so it never happens again...
