piquet jr. is not an idiot. he knows the situation with Alonso and know it will be stupid to start racing him. If i were him i would use this year to get used to F1 and then hope he leaves in 2009. piquet jr. is capable of beating ALonso he just won't be allowed to

Hope he tries. Fireworks!! :D:D:D Dont think baby Piquet will be a woosie. He's not a bad driver and id lurve him to have a go at Alonso. :D Too much mamby pambying around these racing drivers. Get in car, go fast, try to win, Why all the complications? Not fast enough, dont win, Simple.

Alonso demands to be Number 1 in the team, with 2 WDC's under his belt this is a fair request.

a 2 time world champ shouldnt need to demand that if he is the better driver!

It's called marking your territory.

The team know how much extra they are giving the number 1 driver, if the number 2 driver is quicker relative to the tools they have been given he wont be number 2 for much longer.

Exactly what happened at McLaren, Hamilton came along being the spiritual number 2, beat Alonso, the team have a new number 1 driver. He's younger and cheaper. It's a business decision.

I'm willing to bet Hamilton's and Heiki's salaries don't add up to half of what Alonso was on.

I thought LH's new deal is one of the highest paying ever.

Didn't know that, if it is good on him. I'm sure they can afford it now they sacked Alonso.

no its the understanding that schumi's teammates worked with and the same understanding that allowed kimi to be world champion. Basically it is: "when i'm behind you get the F**K off out the way!"

Is that right? I know he ws on peanuts(relatively) last year but haveny heard anything about his new contract.
Demure, Bud's right, a true champion shouldnt need those sort of favours. mark your territory sure, but by being the faster, better driver not by handicapping your team mate

I dunno how current this is and what the status is right now. Well, it can't be bad as LH already moved to tax haven Switzerland for a reason. And maybe it'll be € or £ instead of $?

This potential contract was brought to light several week's ago although I thought it originally was for $120M. Heck I would not bicker over a measely $10M when I knew my endorsement's over a 2-3yr period would most likely surpass the 5yr contract's amount. :D

It's not about tieing sandbags to your team-mate's car. It's about getting preferential treatment over your team mate on important decisions.

It's not worth arguing with you guys because your motivation is to take glory away from the drivers that like to work this way.

The sad thing is you own team is just as guilty of it, but you can't see that, because you are part of the Church of McLaren Holyness Jihad... McLaren only advertises driver equality because they know their biggest rival doesn't work that way and they are looking for votes.
