Well his engineer and strategists got it right a few times, China for one comes to mind. I think there has been a few mistakes though because in reality the tyres are still new concept that a few teams have got strategies wrong through out the year.

Sam won't really make an impact not in sporting director role.

Actually Lewis seems to have had more than his of his fair share of bad everything this year.

So what will Sam do ?

You have to consider the position that the driver puts themselves or ends up in the race. That can really screw up a strategy where they are going through the tyres too quick or they're fuel consumption is too high.

There are too many variables involved to blame just the race engineer.

I know but Jensons wasnt strategy that was clearly an operational error by the mechanics.

That got me thinking about Alesi back in the refuelling days. Do you remember that time his team called him in for fuel and lap after lap he wouldnt go in. Then he ran out of fuel on the track Twit!

China? Seriously...that's the race where Lewis was behind everyone including his teammate and had to overtake like half the field to win the race right? Strategy is supposed to simplify your race, not make it as complicated as possible.

I'd say Nurburgring is a job well done. Apart from that, their strategy for Lewis has been either OK or just stupid.

He's their sporting director so I think he will be a bit higher up than that. I think he may be more concerned with the development of the car. Strategy calls will still be down to the engineer and possibly driver but I dare say sporting directors maybe chime in with suggestions.
