Just cause its scary doesnt mean i go to bed with the light on, its a horror film, it was scary.

Maybe some people are so emotionally detached that they cant grasp what Kubrick/King try to portray  , thats a good one and you know it!

You wanna try although im sure your going to say " i have", reading some Stephen King books, they let your mind scare yourself, scary s*** honestly.

I remember reading Carrie and my imagination of it all was scary.

Someone said Stephen King??

Just on top of my head...

- Carrie
- The Shining
- Cujo
- Christine
- Pet Sematary

My top 3:
-Christine (Just loved it...I read the entire book at least 10 times. Sick huh?)
-Pet Sematary (My imagination found this to be 'scariest')
-Cujo (Very well written)

Special mention to The Shining...best novel based movie in my book. I remember the anticipation I had when I bought the DVD for Pet Sematary but I was more furious than sad to see such a great book being decapitated on screen.

Today I received a letter from USCIS (immigration) asking me to send the same supporting documents to prove that my marriage is legitimate that I sent originally with my cheque for $590 back in May; I am in the process of getting the conditions removed from my "green card" which is supposed to take six months but will actually take more like 16 months... USCIS = USELESS!

I watched it, didn't scare me. Good film though.

Today's exitement was handing in a pee sample to the GP. If I'd got mugged on my way to the doctors the mugger would have got a nasty surprise! :hehe: The receptionists actions were quite funny. Despite it being in a plastic container with the lid screwed on extremely tight and being in a sealed plastic bag which was rolled up a bit, she still held it at arms lenght by her finger tips as if it would jump out and bite her. It's not as if I had made an ice cube of it and ran up to the GP's shouting "QUICK IT'S MELTING!!!".

Right, that's the tone lowered. My work here is done.

Can't see how a book can scare you unless it's a pop-up book and you're reading it for the forst time. :hehe: Some of the Stuart McBride books set in these parts are a bit grizzly at times given the context and graphic descriptions of injuries and wotnot. Good reads though. I ran though the last one in abouit 3 days. It was only 400 odd pages long.

Yeah but you had to hold the bottle/tube as you whizzed and theres no doubt essence of andrew on the outside, through your hands or dribbling or whatnot.

Secondly, theres a difference between not being scared by a book, or not being able to see how you can be scared by a book. I dont know if your mixing them up or whatnot.

Its easy to get scared by a book but just cause i use the word scared doesnt mean i run round clutching crosses excorsing the bedroom im reading it in.

Goosebumps, chills, dont quite explain it, but its not scared in the way id cry, freaky is a good word.

When you read a book all it is is words, they tell you a story, and your mind imagines it, like someone explaining formula one to you " yeah they have front wings rear wings, tyres, noses" youd never imagine what it is they actually look like in real life, or in our case, the film adapation or even what the author was imaginging as he wrote it.

Thats the beauty of written word stories that it lets you imagine your own but with the base down on paper. It taps into what you find scary, because the book is telling you this is a scary story, and you scare yourself with your imagination.

It was in a sealed plastic bag and I gave the container a wipe not that there was anything to wipe. Perfect aim. I'm not a total savage you know! :D Besides, I come from good stock.

I can see how a book can be a bit scary and have read things like that but it's never caused me any long term distress beyond closing the book.

I might well be an illegal alien soon; my "green card" expires in October; will they send me a temporary one while they make their mind up? maybe I can get a free flight back home? :hehe:

I'll FedEX the family to the UK, claiming that the package is a gift so I don't have to pay tax on them!

You're fine as long as you don't leave the country - well, you can leave the country w/o a valid green card, but you won't be able to re-enter. I was in such a situation when I won my green card in a lottery (this is the true shizzle :hehe: ) and so during my application for the green card, they took my J1 visa. Only with special permission could I have left the US and then re-enter (such as for a conference or family emergency). Was kinda unnerving and lasted about 4 months until I got the green (or I should say pink) card in the mail.

When I was a kid my emigrated Cuba and lived in Madrid for a bit before coming to the US. When leaving Cuba, my family was no longer recognized as Cuban citizens, we became residents of Spain, but upon coming to the US, since we were no longer Cuban citizens or Spanish citizens, my green card was labeled "Stateless" I was a man without a country. Well, a boy without a country really.
