We've done this in another thread but i only like spirits, i dont even know the difference between ale, beer and lager, and stout, and i hate jack daniels, i drink for the side effects (good ones), but i hate it.

Castlemain XXXX is very nice indeed but you can't get it in the UK anymore. Have to make do with Bud, Carlsberg or Miller. Tennant's if I'm desperate but it tastes of neepy soup, apparently.

Yeah I'm definitely sure this has been discussed before but while we're on topic....

"Beer" is a very broad category that encompasses lager, ale (bitter/mild), stout, cider, etc

Ale differs from lager in its colour (usually darker, but you also get pale ales), it's not as fizzy and it's fermented differently. IMO, it tastes better. Alcohol-wise, I usually only drink ale these days.

Famous ales / bitters include John Smith's, Boddington's, London Pride, Bombardier, Hobgoblin, Newcastle Brown, Old Speckled Hen, etc, although I expect you know this

You know that the greatest state rivalry in Australia is between New South Wales and Queensland (my mother state). And I'm not talking about State of Origin Rugby League Series, it's the XXXX (piss-beer as the cockroaches call it - and I secretly share their viewpoint) vs. Toohey's News rivalry.

I thought it was ironic that the NSW Blues this year were sponsored by Victoria Bitter (which, in my opinion is also piss-beer). So this State of Origin I have affectionately called the battle of the piss-beers. And sure enough - my fellow cane toads prevailed.

However, bud - you might be able to help me on this - isn't VB a Victorian Beer? If such, why the hell is a Victorian beer sponsoring a New South Wales beer? In my opinion that is just not on - and those pathetic cockies deserved to be thrashed emphatically.

I honestly couldn't believe the news headlines when NSW won the second test. The newspapers had a giant heading: WE DID IT. You bloody well did what? What's "IT"? Win one game? I have never seen an Australian Reperesentative team rejoice over one, lucky win on home turf. Neither have I ever seen "IT" be just one puny little win in the history of Australian Sport. "IT" usually means you've actually achieved something worthwhile mentioning to tell your grand kids about.

It just showed what dire straights the game is in in it's home state. It was absolutely pathetic, and I couldn't stand hearing about it for a whole bloody week. If they actually won the series, then I would understand a news headline "WE DID IT."

BTW - I've never tried Fosters, but looking at the plain blue can (similar to the plain green can for VB's) I have no doubt that it is weak piss beer as well.

England are so s*** in test matches but when it comes to the world cup they suddenly become good, sure they havent faced anyone really good yet, only argentina, who are actually a real good side, but i can see them making the final again.

Even though we all know the All Blacks bar a massive f*** up will win this tournament easily.

Big Azza you're from the Rugby state, you should care about the WRC even if it's union and not league, and SA vs Vic in Australian football is a pretty big rivalry, it's a shame we don't do state vs state anymore. But when you have more than two states who play a form of football it makes it hard to compare to Queensland and NSW who only have each other to play in Rugby

Frafy yeah you'd be hard pressed to find fosters on tap at pubs or even buy it at the bottle shop.
