If Renault do well next year my view on Alonso being a good team leader is going to increase...

He'll need a quiet year off the track and a big one on the track to repair the damage to his reputation after that season with McLaren.

im to far away to bet ;-)

i ithink 07 was a blip year cause they had to put everything into 06 to win it at the end but this year they put more effort into th 08 car

theres gonna be a 1 and 2 on the renaults come 09!

hE'S THE MOST TALENTED DRIVER ON THE GRID MATE

that had to go crawling on his knees back to Renault demanding a number 1 slot because he couldnt take the heat with a fast team mate on equal grounds at McLaren

Cant see Kimi acting in that way.

The 2 times world champ couldn't handle a fast team - I think you should change your sport buddy

You're right. And that's maybe why Kimi was never a WDC with Mclaren...
Alonso's scenario must have been incredibly difficult, but he did manage it like a child. Even though I think it was very right for Alonso to leave, and I doubt he left because he couldnt manage a fast team mate. There was a lot more to the situation than just the speed of his team mate.

I agree with that but I do also feel that he cannot handle a competitive team, mate - Just like M.Schumacher. Maybe thats the way to win, just make sure that you get all of the privilages and all the money spent on your desires, let the (inferior) team mate fit in like it or not. Mind you I dont think that Kimi got too much of that until season end. He didn't do well at the start and it looked for a while as if Massa would be the Ferrari star. Another factor for MS to retire - Massa was catching him up, despite the disadvantages.

according to the times of london it's pretty much settled already. £70 million over three years! Surely he isn't worth that much!

Massa, even with no disadvantages, is not a scratch on Schumacher.

Please... in each of Alonso's title winning years he was the second-best driver. If only the McLaren was more reliable and the Ferrari just better, Alonso would never have been World Champion.

wonder if Alonso is having dejavu about having a rookie team mate
but i hear its in Alonso's contract that he is the number 1 so whats Piquet going to do if he is naturally faster? is Renault going to screw with his tyre pressures or deliberately break his front wing or bla bla bla what ever else it was that Alonso fans claimed McLaren did to him in 07
i wonder if the FIA will appoint a fair play tzar if Piquet isnt given equal treatment?? hmmm na they wont do that its not McLaren we are talking about here, s*** throw McLaren on that stake and set it on fire Max

He doesn't have to worry Renault don't believe in equal treatment just watch and see. If Piquet Jr starting showing up Mr spain, he be out on his ear. Piqent is very talented but the Italian mafia at Renault won't allow Nelson to display his talent. F1 isn't a sport but a joke.

I think Piquet Senior - having experienced going to Williams in 1986 with "number 1 driver" in his contract and being out-performed by Nigel Mansell after Williams allowed both drivers to race each other - will be encouraging his son to not let the team give him any "number 2" crap or be Alonso's bootlicker.
